Please don't pay attention to assholes like szymon-mag. Obviously he doesn't know what he's talking about, to make random assumptions.
Don't get me wrong though, I would tell you if I didn't like some of your work. But I wouldn't make stupid assumptions about it (referring to the 'staged' comments).
Hopefully criticism just fuels you to become a greater photographer.

You shouldn't be so quick to anger and name call. All he did was explain what he didn't like about the shot, at my request I'll add. To him the shot looked staged, the fact that it actually wasn't staged is immaterial to his perception of it, a perception that I was interested in. All he did was be honest when I asked for an expansion of his "criticism" - and there's nothing whatsoever wrong with being honest. Mind you I know your heart was in the right place with this comment as you were just trying to make me feel better - but honestly I don't need it. Like I said I'm secure enough in my work not to get upset when someone has some criticism, and if you really would like to pursue art or photography as a career as you've suggested in the past I'd recommend you cultivate a similar mentality. Not everyone is going to like what you produce, what matters though is what YOU think of it - nobody else. However you can always learn from other peoples comments, and detailed criticism will always have more potential to learn from than gushing praise - don't be so quick to discount it.

Whether it angered you or not was, and is, out of the question. Granted, it was towards you, and was to make you feel somewhat better, I think. But it mostly angered me. About my own work, I encourage criticism, it doesn't make me angry, it makes me strive harder to achieve a certain amount of '
I didn't like that he said it was 'staged.' He should have said it LOOKS staged. It's the assumptions that he makes, that make me mad.
Sorry, but I stand by my last comment, every word of what I said has significance in my mind.
I have lost sight on what I am commenting on. So I will tell you again, that I love this shot, and the beautiful model you used. It shows your artistic, and photographic skills to be able to take shots like this, on the fly, with no staging.

not an altogether dynamic picture the colors are great. i love how you make use of all those colors that she's wearing and the color of her laptop to make this sweet myriad of neon colors. pretty girl too!! :3

it's too... hmm... unreal. the lights, the colour, the pose, it all feels fake. i don't like this kind of reality distorition.
also i'm a big enemy of photos with fake girls. by 'fake' i mean girls with made hair, make up, special clothes, and lightening that only shows her good side. it's like telling: we only want to watch platstic, cute girls, and we don't have ugly ones on this planet. i don't like that, so i can't appreciate that photo.

It's quite obvious you don't like it. What intrigues me though is why you felt the need to point that out. I'm sure this site has millions of pieces of work on it that you don't like, but you don't feel the need to express it on them all I'm sure. Most people just flip to the next one when they see a shot they don't like, some people give constructive criticism and others will at times give a bad reaction when something in the work offends them.
For you to have a reaction that made you feel like expressing your distaste something must have struck a nerve of some kind. I'm curious what that may be...
btw I'm not in the least offended - I'm secure enough in my work...just curious.

Of course people are allowed to express their opinions, and I am allowed to investigate further why they have certain opinions if I feel like it. I was curious what he disliked about it and so I asked him, and that's that.

like i said, it feels fake to me, even though it's a candid shot. maybe it was because of the models hair color. maybe the piercing. the whole thing doesn't feel natural.
normally i would ignore it, but i was in a bad mood probably. that's all.
i'm glad you're not offended. i do this almost-an-asshole thing sometimes, and very few people take it well.
