Saw this one tweet that wanted artists to give their own interpretations of this obscure character from the Mario golf series, Kid, so I decided to give a crack at it. twitter.com/FrogEnthusiast6/st…

Not much of a Mario golf fan (or Mario sports in general), but I found this character pretty interesting because he may or may not have been designed to be an original African American character before that was scrapped? He was apparently based on the childhood of a famous golfer, Tiger Woods, and his appearance in Mario Golf N64 has him with a darker skin tone. However in every other games, his skin was lighter though (probably to avoid any racial stereotypes since his n64 appearance literally gave him pink lips, which is weird cuz he still have the pink lips even while white as shown in his official artwork lmao).

Not much else to say about Kid here, other than I do think that him having a darker skin tone fits his character and inspiration better. I also wouldn’t mind seeing him and a few other human characters from the Mario Tennis/Golf games appearing again. I just like the idea that there are other humans that exist in the Mushroom World besides the main plumbers, the princesses, and Pauline. And no I don’t count the New Donkers. Those guys are FREAKS!
