Honestly not a character I ever thought I'd be drawing. I'd probably remove him from the franchise altogether if I could (sorry). But I want to go beyond the lions and this guy is useful, plot-wise...or at least, he's one I decided would still be alive in my future AU.

After Pumbaa was killed by crocodiles, Timon moved into the nearest meerkat colony, where he had made some friends and was able to extend his royal protection to them. As the oldest one there, he's respected if not entirely understood, and his duties consist mostly of entertaining any of the cubs from the pride who venture out to visit. He still calls Simba "kid."
