Description
This is the sketch of the day (day 3). I will be working on a painting of wolves soon, so, I thought it would be a good idea to do a sketch of them. These two are interacting in a very wolf-ish fashion. :3Related content

Great work....just opened my sketchbook finally after 1 year. Drew a collie and then a rattle snake tonight. Got to get back to practicing a lot to get comfortable with my lines and perspective but it will come. Love doing pencil realistic art and experimenting with colored pencil. Good luck going forward in your work.

This is just too adorable :3 Did you use a picture as a reference? Or was this from memory?

I wish your drawing ability was transferable! I'm an art student yet I can't get my sketches to look anywhere near that. They don't teach animal anatomy where I go, and I've always wanted to learn how to sketch realistically, not cartoony. Got any pointers? I've been doing animal anatomy in a separate sketch book and more on a personal level, so far I have a horse and human skeleton down. And thats drawing from the anatomy book I got from the Library But I failing all else. I just keep thinking to be able to do such intricate detail on the fur like that takes time and patience, but when I come to give it a go my patience is zero. Aha.
My girlfriend looked over my shoulder when I was writing this and pretty my deafened me when she saw your image and requested I give it a go, we are both greatly passionate on the species and I am planning to take her to a wolf park somewhere when I get the money. Aha. But drawing from life still isn't as easy from someones else sketch. I will credit you in my sketch book if its all right if I use your art as reference?
Feel free to check out my DA profile, and you can see what I mean by cartoony, I will be uploaded more images when I get round to actually drawing them. Anyways epic drawings dude! Will be adding more to favorites! XD Oh and I am totally Envious/Jealous >.<

I'm ok with you using my artwork for reference. The minimum I do ask for is credit. And I prefer people not selling artwork "copied" from my artwork, but for practice and reference, that's cool.
In terms of pointers... I have to say what I tell everyone, viewing animals in life is the best. (even if you are not sketching, just seeing them alone helps). But, I know this is not possible for everyone. The next best thing is to use other peoples art and photos to learn from... asking permission is very nice too . Other than that... practice, practice and more practice.
Another pointer about fur... I usually do not focus on trying to draw every hair... but, just giving the impression of fur... which doesn't take me too long, kind of like scribbling fur really... It works with animals like wolves and foxes well.

Oh wow, yeah its only for practice, I wont use it for my own personal gain. I just want to be able to draw as good. And drawing from real isn't possible because my nearest zoo that inhabits wolves is over 200miles away aha. I have friends that have huskeys so thats a start. But its still. hard aha.
I'll give those pointers a go. Thanks a bunch! XD

I don't mind especially if it is just for yourself. If you posted it online I would definitely like you to credit me (link). In your sketchbook giving credit is good just for your own reference. Thanks.
