The scalis are a race that achieved interspace travel thousands of years ago. They have a standing army that's tens of thousands strong with a galactic fleet to go with it. They have six subspecies each with different attributes. There home is sometimes called "The Land of Giants" because scalis can grow to massive sizes.


Weapons:

Pole-Arm
Ember used to not carry a pole arm, preferring a sword. She eventually realized that swords were a little too short ranged for her, so, she got one from the Scalis army on her last tour of duty. Made out of a special alloy reserved for her race's army and only found on their planet, it is able to retract when not in use. The hand grips are specially molded to her hands and when twisted, can extend, retract, and activate or de-activate the special plasma blades. A core shaped like a crystal at the bottom powers the plasma blades and can be re-charged when necessary. The blade on the end can be used without the charge of the core so in a pinch no power is necessary to use it. In order to help her vision in dark environments, LED lights are hooked up in the base of her horn and wing claw casings, which give off a blue glow. When powered, her armor can resist most melee shots and most traditional ranged shots. When un-powered, the armor still resists melee, but its easier to cut through with things like axes and swords, and traditional rounds can pierce the metal if they have a high enough caliber. Laser and plasma weapons however, can dismantle the protection with a few good clean swipes or shots.

Flamethrower
Not your conventional flamethrower, her fire is something exclusive to the sub-species of her race. Via an organ at the back of her throat, she can spit fire from her own mouth. A bright blue in color, its one of her signature moves, but it has a drawback. Unlike most of her race, her fire wasn't used for a long time due to a disease that cause her organ to not function. This dis-use prevented the development of scar tissue around her mouth that would prevent the inside of her mouth from being burned. Whenever she uses it the insides of her mouth get burned, which causes discomfort to pain after its use ends.

Ember's body armor is something she takes great pride in. Customized to her usage and frame from the standard set of army equipmet for her race it comprises of a full body suit, in which all skin is covered except for the membranes of her wings. Her arm covers are thick enough for hidden compartments for guns to be installed inside, ready to be activated during fights. Hidden under sheets of metal in her chest panel is an energy core similer to the one in her pole arm, only more powerful. It powers her weapons inside her arm casings as well as sends signals to the electronic nodes in the wing casings to spread an electric field across the membranes. On the left shoulder she has the VR logo and the symbol for Heavies, and on the right shoulder is a ranking symbol for her race's army, signifying her as a captain.



Personality:

Reserved|Loyal|Temper|Aggressive|Empathetic yet Apathetic|Prickly|Anxiety|Panic Attacks

Reserved:
Upon first appearance, Ember isn't one to start a conversation, nor is she one to really hold one anymore. Her reserved attitude causes her to not really reveal much about anything or really talk about subjects in general. Around friends shes more open, but not by much. This and her prickly nature can make her seem cold and unfriendly.

Loyal:
Ember, despite her reserved nature, is a loyal one, once a good friendship is forged she will fight to protect them. The same is true of crewmates or squadmates, she feels a strong seance of loyalty and beats herself up when she fails to protect someone she is close too.

Hot-Temper:
That said about her loyalty, her temper to those on the other end of the friendship spectrum is disturbing. Her temper is fiery and red hot to those she holds a grudge against. Shes also not one for second chances, if you screw up once, good luck getting Ember to let you have another one. She won't talk to you, and if she does, her speech will most likely be cold, sharp, and either followed or preceded by a growl. Best to leave her alone if you get that response.

Aggressive:
Ember can also be very aggressive. Stay on her bad side long enough and its best to avoid her. If someones been bugging her long enough, she'll probably hit them, and if they continue after that she can be quite deadly. She's been trying to contain her aggression but she has been known to cause serious injuries to crewmates on some other ship, but she doesn't like talking about that, and keeps that fact hidden as best she can.

Inwardly Empathetic:
While it may not seem like it, Ember is able to be Empathetic towards others in most situations, seeing as she has been through a lot. Don't expect her to show it though, her reserved attitude makes her seem apathetic towards others. Even if she may know what a person is going through, she may not even feel empathy for them, but instead be apathetic, and probably tell them to "get over it" upon them opening their mouth to talk about it.

Prickly:
As if her reserved attitude wasn't enough, her prickly nature makes her seem even more distant and cold. Should someone she not know or have never met before come to talk to her, she probably will respond with something like a mild irritation, sprinkled with a mild dis-interest in the one who approached her. This, like her reserved nature, can be bypassed, and with her friends, already is.

Anxious:
While it is nor immediately apparent, Ember has anxiety issues. During certain situations when a friend of hers is in danger, while she may have an unemotional face, underneath hides anxiety of failure. If one of her friends were to die during combat and she wasn't able to help, she beats herself up over it. This anxiety is why she is often willing to throw her life on the line for her friends, in her opinion, best to save her friends or die trying. With her anxiety comes the risk of a panic attack. Under more extreme situations than ones that trigger anxiety, she often will go into complete shutdown, potentially stutter, and have to probably be shaken out of it or pushed to even try to return to function. While these panic attacks are uncommon, the risk of them is enough for Ember to often have to check herself during dangerous situations.



Appearance:
Ember has a very imposing appearance. She stands at 10 feet tall and is well muscled in both her arms and legs. Her eyes always seem to have a glare because of the ridges that stick out a bit above her eyes. Her horns add to her expression, changing direction in sharp angles with blackened tips. Her wings, large and bat like, travel down the length of her body, the claws at the top rising above the top of her head, but the tips at the bottom just reaching the top of her legs. Her tail is long and sinewy, helping to balance her stance, and sports a continuous blue fire at the end of it that can be used as a blowtorch in some situations. Her hide is red with her wing membranes, talons, inner ears, and belly plates being a bright orange. On her wrists and ankles as well as two sets on her tail, she has a set of three black bands. She sports a mane that ends on the bottom of her neck and begins with a set of bangs on top of her head that are bright orange. Her eyes are bright blue, and across her left eye is a bright blue battle scar from where she was cut by an opponents blade. Her clothing consists mainly of a purple and gold uniform with metal plates that fit over it to protect her chest back, shoulders, as well as the base of her neck. On the left shoulder, the VR's logo sits above the pilots symbol, and the technicians symbol is in the center of the neck protection on a blue orb. Her suit can be used as a pilots pressure suit and has braces for the hands and feet but she keeps the arms rolled up to her elbows so it doesn't function and only the feet braces are on. Across her forearms are metal braces that hold various tools inside and function as protection and toolboxes. Across the plates on her belly and back are straps that hold a device that holds her pole arm that rests diagonally between her wings on her back. On her hands she wears a pair of brown fingerless gloves marked with her sub-species symbol(weyr symbol) that are fire proof. On her head she wears a pair of goggles shes owned since she was little and modified them to work better. She has a well used, oil and grease stained blue bandanna tied around her neck she uses as a cleaning cloth. It isn't always seen because its tied under the neck protection.


Biography:

Ember has already revealed some of her history to her friends, the rest shall stay confidential until she deems fit. The only thing she feels to tell is she had been traveling with a group of friends for two years and all of them received the chance to work on the Void Rider, which they all accepted.



Role-Play Sample:

Dust swarmed around the battlefield on this desolate planet far from the home world of either race. Amidst the storm in this desert world the clamor of battle could be heard. War cries from both sides abounded over the desert dunes and rocky plateaus as each side fought for ground. On one side fought a race of draconian looking beings, sizes ranging from ten to twenty feet. Their armor covered their entire bodies, the metal gleaming in the hot sun that glared down. The other race, reaching an average height of 15 feet, had four eyes, two on stalks and two without. The race had on a suit of armor similar to the scalis, but the helmets left their mouths exposed. Within the heat of the battle on this desert world, fought Ember. Matching her in height fought her opponent, his sword ready in his hands. With a mighty roar the two beasts charged each other, Ember swinging her pole-arm, the other with raised sword. With a loud crash of metal on metal their weapons met, came apart, and met again.  As the weapons swung to contact each other, Ember ducked and jabbed out with the blade pointed at the aliens chest, causing him to back up several steps with a hiss. The Scalis rushed forward, preforming a downward swipe with her pole-arm(WIP)

Not much is known about the Kerikc species, as they only just recently have opened their planet up for interstellar trade. They have advanced science technology to the point that most every Kerick alive today was grown and born in a lab from their parents DNA instead of their mothers womb. They have six sub-types all genetically created from the base code of their species. Each sub-species has a specialty, ranging from battle to farming.


Weapons:

Pistol:
Vendir's pistol is less about assault than it is about self defense. Its simple enough in shape, and doesn't have much range, but it is able to load two different kinds of chemical shots. One, a toxin, the other, an anesthetic. he can switch between the two but prefers the anesthetic unless the foe is particularly aggressive, then he uses the toxin.

Friendly:
Vendir is a very friendly individual, he often will seek out others to talk too and start a conversation with him. He smiles often and his eyes radiate good cheer. He is almost always looking for someone to become friends with and he often doesn't have that much trouble making them.

Open:
Vendir, as well as being a friendly sort, is open. Most of the questions about him and his past will be answered truthfully. He also wears his heart on his sleeve, so if he's feeling bad or upset, hes probably gonna tell someone outright. Of course, everyone has their secrets, and if someone pries too deep he'll break it off and change the subject.

Intelligent:
Vendir is very intelligent. His sub-species gets all information known on medical and scientific knowlage of any form about their race and planet "downloaded" into their head. As such, his medical knowlage is extensive, but information on care for other species outside his race is limited to none. This is compensated in another way because his knowledge on most other things is severely lacking, including his fighting ability. Still, he is able to hold his own in a fight.

Caring&Empathetic:
Vendir is also very compassionate and empathetic. If someone is feeling down he can pick up on it quickly and attempt to console or comfort them. He acts often like a loving grandfather in this way, trying to keep the person's mind off of whats causing them hurt, and on something that will make them laugh or in any ways feel better.

Passive:
Vendir is a passive type, as is most of his sub-species. He tries to stay away from fights and if he can't will almost always stay on the defensive if he gets physically involved or he will try to end the conflict. If worst comes to worst he always has his anesthetic charges for his pistol and the chemical residing in the spine under his tail fluff, but he only uses that in dire situations.

Too Trusting:
With all his openness and friendly attitude, Vendir is too trusting. Often one for second chances and sometimes third or forth ones, he is able to be deceived quite easily. However, while he may be able to be deceived, he has a very strong "Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you, fool me three times, get the heck outta dodge" attitude, and after enough deceits, he won't take your shit anymore.



Appearance:
Standing at 7' tall, Vendir isn't exactly a formidable looking figure. He is of average build, and his white hair makes him look older than anything else really. He has four eyes with no pupils and pale green semi lightning bolt shaped iris's. The hair on his body is a dark purple with green markings, and feels like toothbrush bristles when brushed against. He also has three sets of ears, the largest is in the middle, and is able to hear normal wavelengths, the second set, smaller and in front of the first, can hear up to five times better than a human ear. The smallest set, sitting on the back of his first set, can hear very small frequencies. His nose, not like most others, has four different nostrils, three on the sides and one in the center. He also has two small green tusks protruding from his upper jaw. His feet are like hooves, but the hoof part is only the front, the back is made of the same fur as the rest of his body. His hands are tipped with green nails and covered in a lighter purple fur that has the ability to calm some animals, mostly ones from his home planet. He wears a dark blue and pale green bodysuit of his races making, all members of his sub-species wears one of these hues, but patterns may vary. The bodysuit has openings for the two pouches on his belly. Over top this bodysuit is a pale blue lab coat, with circuits embedded between the fabric. These circuits show up on the bottom, cuffs, and collar of his jacket. On the right side there is a symbol on his jacket, the same symbol that's on his chest and serves the purpose of a name tag. On the shoulder of his coat is the VR symbol.


Biography:
Vendir's past is a foggy one. He doesn't like mentioning his early years but after becoming a medic he worked at a veterinary clinic on his planet. He wouldn't of left except that he was put on paid leave because of renovations and had been looking around for a new job. Which he got, when he received an invitation to the Void Rider.
