Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone

A soul in tension that’s learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly

A dream unthreatened by the morning light

Karida felt hope fill her soul as she gazed up at the glowing full moon. A gentle peace settled over her as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Everything around her grew silent as her senses evaporated. Then, one by one, sight, sound, smell, and touch all returned. The sound of the crickets chirping faded from a deep harmony to a distant thrum. The wind and air grew colder and smelled of ice. Her green eyes fluttered open to see the deep violet sky stretching before and beneath her, snowy mountains appeared miles below as she felt herself carried through the sky upon invisible wings of crystal. Her soul felt renewed as the realization of sweet freedom filled her mind. All her hardships had been cast off on the ground below leaving her unfettered to fly upon her own free will.

Marikay, I hope you like this and I hope everything falls into place for you soon
