The drawing in itself is amazing, but with your colouring, it's downright jaw-dropping!
I REALLY like how you drew the rubber, it looks so realistic! Great characters and great shading. You can really notice the difference between the rubber and the fur.
May I suggest, though, that the lighting on the fur be as "fluffly" as the shadows? It looks odd that only the darkness looks like the fur, and the light looks somewhat smooth. Just a suggestion. ^-^

Perhaps one reason as to why you like the BNW version better could be because of the blurred effect at the bottom of the coloured version that causes confusion...
