Description People have been asking me for a long time how I shade ing Photoshop. Now, that's a very broad range to cover, but this should help give you some idea.

WARNING:
Shading this way requires my custom brush. The settings for this brush are:

OPACITY:65%
FLOW:65%

(under BRUSH TIP SHAPE)
HARDNESS:91
SPACING18

(under OTHER DYNAMICS)
OPACITY JITTER 0%
CONTROL FADE: 50

FLOW JITTER 0%
CONTROL FADE: 25

Oh Now I feel dumb for asking you earlier. I've wanted to get into this method for a while though. Most of my Photoshop shadings are super smooth and "pillowy" like I described earlier, which usually isn't as effective.

Excellent tutorial. Or rather...I love how you have the brush settings listed. I've never quite understood the point in those, but now I do! Thanks ever so much!

I don't really know how to post actual brushes, but all the specs to make it yourself are there ^_^

I still have a lot things to ask. Could you teach how to soften the shading a bit? Or doing it with the colors? And how exacly I can access to these settings? I know where to look for opacity, but what are these? Does this work on Photoshop 5.5? And I still have to translate them. Some image could be very helpful

Those are all for PS 7 and up, but I can give you some 5.5 setting too which I often use:

Under Paint Brush options:

Opacity 55%

Fade 25

Under Brush Size:

Hardness 70

Spacing 18

and make sure you're using the AIRBRUSH tool when doing this in 5.5 instead of the paintbrush. In 7, airbrush and paintbrush are all one thing.
