Description A.K.A. "Guess who found a green pen during his work shift?"

To say the least, it didn't take long for me to realize what I could use said green pen for.

It seems like Yoshi is becoming my go-to character to fall back on whenever I'm struggling to get down anything involving my own character. Personally, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some other Nintendo characters over time, but don't expect fanart to become the norm on this account; it's fine and I'm obviously not against doing it myself, but my primary focus is still going to be my own characters and lore.

So, anyway... the original idea behind this was inspired by the early Mario Party games; it was supposed to be based off of the "Handcar Havoc" mini-game, but then I realized drawing the handcar itself was not only beyond my expertise, but also the cardboard scraps I draw on are seldom large enough to support that much content.* So I instead opted for an air pump and made it based off of "Balloon Blast" instead, where I found the pose works just as well in that context. Sadly, the canvas I drew this on wasn't large enough to support the pump... I-I guess you could also pretend Yoshi here is pushing a dynamie plunger and is eager to blow something up... those were a thing in the older Mario Party games, right? I haven't played them in many years, so I don't recall.

Despite the picture's simplicity, it took me three tries to get the drawing to even look this good. First two takes suffered from faulty (or rather, faultier) perspective and just weren't up to snuff, but I felt like I was on the right track so I grabbed another cardboard scrap and tried a third time... only to realize too late that this scrap wasn't as long and wasn't able to support the pump. Yep. Don't have a lot else to say about this pic. Pose is a little stiffer than I'd like it to be, legs seem a little on the short side, the perspective is still not 100%, and I think I probably should've made the head shorter and fatter. Still trying to figure out how to draw Yoshi again after all of these years... I'm on the right track, but not there just yet. I'll get it right one of these days.

...

Yoshi is property of Nintendo.

Part of my "Trash Drawing" series, in which I make sketches during the quieter moments of my shift using whatever supplies I can find laying about (said supplies will always be pens and cardboard scraps). Due to the hasty nature of make of these sketches, coupled with the materials used, and the canvas being a literal piece of garbage, I have taken to calling these sketches "Trash Drawings."

It would be awesome to see other Nintendo characters at some point! Who are you thinking you might draw?

In addition to the Balloon Blast mini-game, this also reminds me of Bowser's Bigger Blast from Mario Party 4. I could imagine Yoshi's face in here saying, with a jaded tone, "Let's see if I lose all my coins and go to last place today!" (Can you tell I have bitter memories of that minigame? XD)

Other Nintendo characters? Well, I'm a fan of Star Fox, so I might look into doing art of that. I've also been thinking about the Donkey Kong series a lot lately, so that's also something I might look into, though I've never drawn fanart for that franchise before.

Memories of MP4 are vague, though I do remember the Bowser mini-games were pretty brutal to the loser (I'll never forget that nerve-wracking fruit mini-game of his). The Game Guy mini-games from Mario Party 3 were way worse, however, since you were not only forced to play his game, but the game in question was also always luck-based are thus really easy to lose. Man... screw Game Guy.

I'm a huge fan of Star Fox, so that sounds awesome. Falco is my fav. Have you played the new game by chance, Star Fox Zero? Also, it'd be pretty cool to see maybe a Kremlin or K. Rool himself.

Yeah, the Bowser mini-games were terrible. I never once won a game of MP4, mostly due to Bowser games. So many coins lost...I still think the worst of them all is the Crane Game from MP1. Let's just say I lost over 100 coins once in that game and rage quit.

MP1's Crane Game was brutal. I think the losing player would get about a third of their coins stolen if they were dropped in the pipe? And if the CPU managed to get a good grip on you, then it was guaranteed you were going to lose your money. I remember losing 50 coins one time from that mini-game.

I was not happy about that.

Yep, it was about a third that was taken. A steep penalty if I say so myself. And it didn't even matter the difficulty of the CPUs. My incident happened when I was playing against easy.
