Few remember the enigma that was SkekDemus, even in early days of the court he was viewed with contempt and fear, because unlike the others Skeksis he had a fascination with death and spirituality and this spirituality meant that he viewed all souls including that of Gelfling and Podlings as equals. It is not normal for Skeksis to like such things most fear their death more than anything in the world and most believe this along with the fact that Demus liked to tell the truth and maybe told the Emperor that he would die a corpse and all his plans would go unfulfilled may have led to his downfall. Who locked him away in the vast under catacombs under the castle its not know most think it was ether Zok or the Emperor himself what is very clear though is that Demus was the first Skeksis in the court to fall, though it was never made public and the Emperor went to great lengths to hide the truth by gaslighting every Skeksis to believe this lord of death had never existed and most fell for it.

Demus though never saw his exile as punishment he saw it as freedom as he could pursue his interest fully and become a true master of death. He later helped those few Skeksis who had been exiled themselves as well as those trying to break out of the dark crystals grip and influence and became the person who made meetings happen deep out of sight and away from the Emperors gaze. To the rest he remained the terrible god of death of the tombs which all the other Skeksis feared and ran away from in terror. It is believed that he succeeded in also doing something no Skeksis has ever done, in that he got the last laugh when it came to death as unlike the others he didn't rot and crumble in to nothing, he instead slowly self mummified naturally and its said that his body may lie in side the catacombs encased in a statue and immortal reminder that the Skeksis existed once on Thra.
