Description
wow. it's because of this picture that I developed a painterly style in my colouring but I haven't finished it till now! I started this a few months ago but got bored after colouring just the face. I'm proud of this picture in a few ways because this is when i started getting bold with lighting and hard light. This is also the first picture where I didn't start with a base colour of the exact colour i'm colouring. err.... meaning I didn't stick in a blob of pink then shade and highlight that. Instead I tried to colour in the highlights, the shadows, then blend.Anyways, tis Richard Armitage aka Guy of Gisborne from the BBC's Robin Hood. He's pretty, but has a prettier voice

I quite liked this adaptation of Robin Hood. This is a pretty cool artwork, Gisborne was awesome. I reckon Richard Armitage would make an amazing Bond villain - smooth, sophisticated and downright dangerous.

Dude. You just captured my favourite character of all time perfectly. I'm jealous. XD
Beautiful, you can really see Guy in that, it's like you can tell what he's thinking just by looking at his expression. You can just see the emotional turmoil. <333
Awesome.

I love this Silverwing! Love the style of this picture - it's bold & has got loads of character. Doesn't look so overly 'polished', like most of the photoshop/painter art. Very, very nice. Love the subject matter too of course but hey, who wouldn't
PS: I agree with you on the voice as well - have you listened to his reading of Bernard Cornwell's 'The Lords of The North' (unabridged)? I can highly recommend it!

I love the loose, sketchy mood of this picture!
Guy is awesome, even if he is a bit despicable at times... I just wish that BBC had made Gisbourne a bounty hunter instead of the Sheriff's right-hand man, like he was in the original Robin Hood legends.

I really like the rough sketch-paint style of this. Guy's expression is perfect as well; full of emotions that all interweave into that typical Gisborne look.
Wonderful piece!

*faints* Awesome job on Guy <3 By the way, would you have any tips on how to colour/shade your drawing on Photoshop? I recently acquired a tablet, and am looking for a few hints to help me draw/colour on Photoshop using said tablet. (hope you understood that...) Thanks again!

silverwing24 In reply to fancyfarmer [2009-04-19 08:27:44 +0000 UTC]
thanks!
um. tips... tips... i usually advice people not to use the soft edge brush to shade. It's easy with a tablet cause you can do more strokes faster and easier. I tend to go maybe 25-45 opacity when shading colour. Also sample colours inbetween the darker and lighter shade lots. (hold down alt/option if mac. forgot windows shortcut . it's the quick eyedropper tool)
hope that makes sense. good luck
