Description
This was a complete experiment. I had to force myself to do something, so I got some paper, mixed some black paint in a bottle cap, and started throwing it randomly onto the blank page. I'd spin the paper, blow it, shake it, dripped molten wax into it - all in tiny doses - and I added some blue food dye for good measure. It was a bit of a nondescript blob, and remained in that state on my bedroom floor for a couple of weeks. I'd look at it every time I got dressed in the morning, trying to see something in my Rorschach ink blot. One day a bird emerged, as they always seem to do. A little bit of tinkering and detailing with acrylics and watercolours...and that was it!
Give it a go. It's worth noting that I did this about five times on different pages, and all the others sucked. Haha.
Hope you like
~Simon

The concept is great, at first I didn't even see the bird, but now I recognice it. The color pallette is well chosen although some purpelish colors would look great : )
The fact that you started with some randomly thrown splatter makes the whole picture even more amazing. :'D Regarding this fact th composition came out great too. I love the shape of those splatters, when try out doing splatters they came out just ugly, haha. These little circle shapes are fitting greatly to the wide splatter hapes, makes a good contrast. Also the contrast between blue and black is cool.
My only idea for improvement is to bring in another colour tone, because it looks a little bit monotone. As I said, purple would look quite harmonic. : )
Kep the good work on!

Wow, this is so cool. What's even cooler is how this image came to be. I love throwing paint onto paper but mine never look like anything! This totally looks as if you planned each and every splatter and blob. Amazing!

Thank you! It's a very hard line to walk...I had another three or four works from which nothing really emerged, only half-formed idea larvae. So don't let it get you down!

It totally just emerged. I wasn't happy with this until I saw the bird I then set about bringing the bird out more with detail and defining the "wing" area. Glad you like it!

I can understand having it on the floor looking at it for two weeks before you saw something in it.Β I'm sure you are happy that you decided to keep it because it is quite beautiful, balanced, and energetic!

Thanks very much! I really enjoy the tension when making it, knowing that one flick too much could totally ruin the work. Help me, I'm sick haha.

I understand about the tension and possibility of ruining the piece.Β That happens with me for about 10 days when I am carving my pieces and trying to get the look just right without screwing it up.Β Beautiful work!

That's the best thing about birds, they always appear when you need them the most! And this bird is for sure the bird of hope because it's blue! ..and because I've imagined it so (: I really love it!
