Meeepp!! But they've never ~really gone back to it so I'm still on edge! We have no idea what's happening (well, "what exactly" anyway.. we've got vague ~impressions lol but that's it) & we probably won't find out any more until sometime ~after it comes back, which is at the end of January, so basically sometime after Feb! Curse you Smallville!!

But yes, wasn't that quoted scene- even in just written words!- absolutely heartbreaking having been there for all those times ourselves?! GAH!

..it's times like that I'm thankful we have fandoms that are less about teh angsty & more about teh awesome, like (as far as "current" ones) White Collar & Human Target, hehehe. How I treasure our epic adventures!

WHOO! YAY MARATHONS! ..I seriously have watched each White Collar ep like 3-4x, no lie! I blame USA Network, rotfl I mean they repeat each ep that much during their week & how can I not try & catch each one? (& when it comes to Neal Caffrey, I don't think there's ~any such thing as getting "over-exposed", muaha! )

..So have you seen/heard of Human Target yet? It's like the most awesome combination of action/adventure movies all crammed into a one-hour tv show each week! In fact, the closest shows like it haven't been on-air in forever: MacGyver, probably the A-Team (which I ironically never really watched cuz I don't remember it being on any channels I had, but I loved the movie so I think I would've liked the show too!), & others like ViPER (awesome '90s show with a similar ~team idea but revolving around one special awesome vehicle!) & Thunder in Paradise (buddy action/adventure show, epically cheesy but that's the best part! ); etc.. so yeah, HT is just *awesome* (I looove overusing ~that word, obviously! ) & you should watch it too! Nope, I haven't- well, I've seen the commercials, but not the show. *is going to look at stamp...*

Haha, maybe that's more of a, "be careful what you wish for"? I mean, I feel they might already be planning something & maybe the comments made of him being iffy about it are just to make it all the more suspenseful, heh.. but with their writing, I'm truly worried of just how such a storyline might happen &/or end up! But yes, if only we could get some of those good times back! *mourns the epic hugs liek whoa*

*flail* Aside from the whole, everything-is-always-my-fault, zomg-whiny version of Clark & the constant Clana angst, those first few seasons definitely had some great moments! And I say Clana angst, because his WHOLE BASIS for not telling her his secret was that it would put her in danger.. umm.. isn't she ALWAYS in danger every other week anyways?! (lmao) All of them were! Well, that & they might think he was a "freak", which they did cover with Chloe too.. ehh. I loved how Chloe eventually handled it for real tho, the way they worked together had some of the best lines! (when he wasn't taking her for granted, anyways..)

Chloe: "Gosh, Clark, I didn't realize super-whining was one of your powers!"
Clark: "Pete was a lot better at these pep talks in these situations..."
Chloe: *shouts over the radio* "PETE?!"
Clark: *hits his head* "Gah!"
Chloe: "..You told Pete your secret?!"
Clark: "I kinda had to, he saw my ship..!"
Chloe: "Whaa?! Pete got to see your spaceship?!"


I think the worst thing tho, aside from the unfortunately messed-up epic CLEX friendship itself, was the beyond-frustrating back-n-forth they did with Lionel's character.. constantly with the, IS HE EVIL OR NOT? First he's got a dark past, he's always been hard on Lex cuz he blames his mother's death on him- with the things they had him doing (secretly torturing Lex to erase the knowledge that he killed his own parents? threatening Chloe.. etc), he was certainly the biggest evil we thought Clark (& Lex) would have to overcome, especially since he wanted to find out Clark's secret too! But then wait, he was/starts actually protecting Clark? LOL whut.. & then he was protecting him from Lex! OY! & then Lex goes & kills him, because they had him creeping ever closer to the edge & that pretty much sealed it. Talk about going overboard..

Personally, I would have preferred if SV had done its own twist on the mythos (better than the way they ended up going, anyways) & had Lionel stay as "the big bad" with Clark & Lex eventually teaming up, & Clark's friends being their Team of Awesome.. c'mon, that would've made a great series!

Thank goodness for fanon & happy alt-verses!

I totally agree with you about Lionel; TPTB trying to make him 'good' was absolutely nauseating, and I never bought into it for a moment. As far as I'm concerned, Lionel was just trying to win Clark's trust so he could use him (since he did not have Virgil Swann's key and thus couldn't use that to get control over Clark the easy way). And I absolutely consider Lex pushing Lionel out that window to be legitimate self-defense; Lionel had tried to murder Lex several times before, and he was obviously about to try again, since he'd been unable to distract Lex from investigating Veritas -- only this time Lex took steps to protect himself.

If the show had taken the direction of Clark trusting Lex with the truth (especially since Lex proved in "Asylum" that he WAS trustworthy), and Clark and Lex joining forces to defeat Lionel Luthor, and Clark eventually proving to everyone else in his life that Lex was one of the good guys -- that would have made for the greatest take on Superman EVER. *mourns for what could have been* But at least we have fanfiction....

Yes, the intent of Lionel wanting to use Clark, I had written something about that but must have edited out plus those seasons are now a bit vague to me.. and seriously, they ret-con SO much crap, I don't even kno what's what anymore, lol I mean, I remember that ep where Lionel was in prison? and switches places with Clark!! and I'm like, HOW did that even happen? How did they ever continue on like it didn't? lol oy..

Eeeep, Asylum is the ep (well okay there were many but still!) that both broke my heart SO MUCH & made me squee so epically.. (and also majorly ~broke my brain cuz ZOMG RAPING MY CHILDHOOD (for the 2nd time) has never been more apt as in when you make me watch the former love-of-my-(young)life JTT as a creepy bad guy, gah.. *hides*)

But yeah, seeing Clark save Lex with Lex actually *witnessing* it?! *spaz* You kno, there was a time I intended to try & make a list of how many times who saves whom (& from what, & who sees/forgets what, etc in each ep).. especially with those times that Lex has saved Clark! I might try & attempt that again at some point..

Except at the end of that ep.. or was it a few eps later? It's too late & Lex's memory has already been zapped & Clark's sadness when he realizes it, but he still doesn't tell him because 1. he thinks it's safer that Lex doesn't remember his secret 2. wait I can't remember the second reason WTF CLARK lol I was seriously waiting for the truth to come out every single ep after that! But was like, screw you Lionel, when he realized that in his desperation to make Lex forget about his crime, he apparently erased Clark's secret too.. pfft. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET!

I'm gonna make another gif, it's the moment when tiny!Clark pets tiny!Lex in the truck, HOW ADORABLE IS THAT MOMENT?! It will be posted asap.. In the meantime.. another favorite quote!

(after discussing the trouble btwn Lois & her rebel sis Lucy, Lex is about to leave Clark's barn..)
Clark: "Lex.. Do you ever miss not having a sibling?"
Lex: (pause) "I used to.. until I met you, Clark. You're closer to me, than any.. blood brother."
(cue Clark looking sad-sappy, then Lex smiling as he walks away)

In "Transference," Lionel had gained possesssion of one of the Kryptonian Crystals (also known as the Stones of Power) and had further discovered that it could be used to swap bodies, so he'd planned to use it on Lex, walking out of prison in Lex's healthy body with access to all of Lex's money and property and power, leaving Lex himself trapped behind prison bars in a body dying of liver disease. Only Clark intervened at just the right/wrong moment, and Lionel wound up swapping bodies with him, instead. With help, Clark finally managed to swap the two of them back, and that mysteriously cured Lionel's body of its terminal illness, but left Lionel with no memory of the event. Or so TPTB told us. *gnashes teeth over the lack of logic*

"Asylum" showed just how much Lex cared for Clark, and just how trustworthy he truly was. Once the drugs from "Shattered" were out of his system, Lex kept quiet about what he'd seen Clark do, and he never once tried to use that information to bargain with Lionel in an effort to save himself -- even when Lionel had him strapped down and was about to fry his brain. Yet, at the end of the episode, when Clark discovered that the electroshock treatment had erased Lex's recent memories, he chickened out of telling Lex the truth, despite knowing for a fact that Lex could be trusted. And then, in "Memoria," Clark actually betrayed Lex to Lionel rather than risk Lex getting those memories back. (That's the betrayal I'll never truly forgive Clark for. He knew Lionel had murdered his own parents and risked turning his son into a vegetable, yet Clark essentially sicced Lionel on Lex by telling the man what Lex was doing. And why? Because Lex was committing the 'terrible crime' of trying to recover his own memories. *snarls furiously*)

Still, however serious a grudge I hold against Clark, I truly do love the Clex. And a gif of tiny Clark petting tiny Lex would be fantastic!

Yeah, it came back to me after I wrote that, I knew that Lionel had been intending to switch places with Lex, & at one point wanted to even say like, what if the reason "Lex" really "turned" evil was because he was always Lionel from that point on.. anything to free the Lex we had gotten to kno up to that point, lol. But of course, they fixed it & then acted like nothing had happened..

Eurgh, why do the writers torture our characters so much after making us fall for them? Yeah, Clark definitely had some issues (not just abandoning Lex, but thereafter always being the first to accuse him, etc) but I have to blame it on the writing. Especially once they had Lex actually start hurting ppl too- I think it was the ep he was torturing Bart? the kid Flash, that was like.. Yet nonetheless I still held on in hopes things would eventually get better.. no such luck!

But their good moments.. they are indeed truly hard to resist I'm always reminded of Phoebe/Cole, actually (Charmed).. except the writers' excuse there was for "drama" that they tortured Cole & had him go thru crap & Phoebe go back & forth before essentially pushing him towards the dark side again.. yet I still alt!ship like whoa & get all nostalgic everytime I randomly watch an ep..

The writers of Smallville definitely owe us a truckload of apologies for the things they've done to our beloved characters. *curls protectively around Lex*

And I'm not much of a Charmed fan, but I loved Cole and his relationship with Phoebe (well, until they had her wildly flipflopping on whether or not she trusted him, and whether or not she loved him, and whether or not they could be together). Poor Cole -- he deserved far better than to be driven mad. But at least he was sane again for his appearance in the 100th (?) episode.

Exactly! The things Cole ended up going thru- and ALL of it was FOR her to begin with- it just tore my lil shipper heart apart.. At least when they got him back for that cameo later (the 150th ep in s7; the 100th one in s5 was where he was finally killed, in the alt!verse by magically-sick Paige who had accidentally teleported herself there), yeah they did seem to have somewhat tried to make up for it, by having him be the one trying to get Phoebe to "believe in love again" & helping Piper with Leo.. sigh.

WHAT hooow has it been ~ten years since we first met Cole?! & ~nine since SV started for that matter.. wow, lmao. /this is what I get for browsing Wiki And you kno characters have made an impression on us when we're still missing them so many years later.. & glad you enjoyed the link, I made it all the way to the last page & was even more nostalgic than when I started! lol

Say.. you kno how raare actually well-written, awesome friendships/relationships are & since you like teh slashy/adorkableness in certain fandoms already..? & LOL that's not the first time I've heard that actually! Peter & Elizabeth are so ~cuute together, I don't think any true White Collar fan would want to split them up! I love their trio dynamic as well, they balance each other out pretty good when it matters.. But yea, I love the (oh-so-slashy) friendship that Peter & Neal have, it's just irresistable!

Did you catch up to the last ep, the mid-season finale of s2? How excited are ya for the return in January?

As far as I know, I'm up to date on the White Collar episodes they've aired, and I'm very excited to see more. *bounces* The extra-slashy scenes with Neal and Peter are totally squee-worthy!

And it's sort of yes and no on Twitter: I'm on it, but I don't do much beyond trying to remember to check on Michael Rosenbaum's tweets. (My favorite Lex Luthor EVER.) If you regularly squee over White Collar, though, that could be fun. I think I'm listed as 'draconicat' there, too.
