Description
Kjorn and Shard from Jess Owen's / "Song of the Summer King." They have a really interesting dynamic as best friends that have to take different paths from one another as they come of age that I thought deserved a calmer moment from when things were simpler between them. I have yet to read the sequel despite its ready availability on Amazon for Kindle, but I'm planning to preorder from jessowen.com ASAP to get a pretty hardcover copy with Jennifer Miller's droolworthy art on the dust jacket. Jess sent me a mini-print of the cover via facebook after I got drawn out of a like/share giveaway and I was absolutely thrilled, so I thought she deserved a little fanart of the besties (and a shameless ad too!) But seriously, guys - this is all coming out of this new self-publishing trend with kickstarter campaigns and I think it's fantastic. There's not enough griffin/gryfon literature out there and I for one am thrilled to have such a talented author and her cast of brilliant characters on the case to remedy that.I did a background????????????????
Ten hours in Photoshop Elements with a drawing tablet (starting at the sketch stage.) My back hurts. Oww.

I couldn't believe how fast 10 hours went, haha. One minute I'd started the lineart and then suddenly it was dinnertime and suddenly midnight (in that order.) I've never tried to do griffins in my bold lineart style, that's usually saved for Pokemon, but I thought I'd try it this time and I'm happy with how it came out XD

Kjorn had a cute design, he seemed like he'd be kind of a fun guy XD It was an amusing contrast to Shard's more reserved coloration and demeanor. Hahaha! I'm really happy you like it.
