Thank you so much
Do you get snow at all in your winter?
Drought doesn't sound too good for growing
things! I hope you have water for drinking
and stuff.

I live on the coast, so it only snows at high altitudes further inland. Yeah, the dought is a pain in the ass. I think it is a 7 year drought or something. It is only really noticable in rural areas though. We still have water restrictions though.

Must be beautiful to live on the coast
but 7 year drought, that's awfully long

Some of your pictures remind me of the styles of the artists who painted for the old magic cards, and they looked really good. And then they switched to digital

Is that because they look more fantasy like than
realistic? Paintings I do like this one are based more on
mood,atmosphere and color than realism.They aren't
sketched out first and I don't know how they will turn
out until I feel they are done.I just start painting
and see where it goes!

well the ones for the cards were just landscapes, like what you do now. although I have one guess though I'm not sure it's true, were you ever influenced by the 1940's, 50's and 60's general landscape styles?

Cool! Not that I know of,I haven't studied art styles or artists
so I'm not sure where the style comes from.I grew up drawing and
decided I'd like to paint so I bought some supplies and have just
been experimenting with brushes and paints and letting things evolve
as they do.Everything you look at has simple lines and contours that
stand out from the detail.I just start with those and build on them adding only the detail and colors I want in the painting.I don't have any background or studies in art to fall back on so I'm not sure where the influences come from.

GORGEOUS VIEW!
Wow I would love to open my window and find that outside
Actually I wouldn't considering I'm on the second floor XD But you know ;D
Beautiful colours, so bright and fresh looking! Makes me almost glad it's winter here now! Though we would never get a scene like this. Lovely detail in the tree branches too, looks almost lifelike!

Thanks so much!
That would be some snow to the second floor
It been snowing here for about 3 days off and on so
it sort of looks like this outside of town.I love
how snow looks fresh and undisturbed, but then I
get the urge to make snow angels in it,hard to resist.
It's like a blank canvas

Ahahah I know exactly what you mean. Like when you're walking and you see untrodden snow, big lovely fresh bit that noones walked over, and you go out your way to make your footprints go through XD
We've had no snow here yet, at where I'm at university that is, just a lot of icy wind!

Exactly! You just have to!
There's been some flurries here but we have a winter
storm watch posted for this evening. Two winter storms
are supposed to merge sometime this afternoon so we
could get a lot of snow.

Thanks you so much! I love painting
snow and all the tones and how the colors
reflect off it.It fascinates me how very little
white there actually is in snow except in certain
lighting!

How very true Winter is beautiful, but I can't say as I care for the temperatures that come along with it though

Brrrr!!! I'm not a fan of those either or the wind
that seems to bite right into you! Going to have to write the weather man and see if they can raise the temperature and just sprinkle the artificial snow so we have the look without the cold

Aww, thank you Yes, it's kind of boring, but the last two years we had about 10 minutes of snow falling...it was almost considered a national holiday
(this just proves how global warming is getting to us all..)
You're very welcome!

simplelines In reply to PhoBug [2008-11-20 20:53:16 +0000 UTC]
I sometimes wish we only had 10 minutes of
snow falling Especially when it snows a lot
and I have to shovel out the driveway and the sidewalk
The weather is strange everywhere, these days. All the severe
storms. We never use to get tornadoes in Canada but we do now.
Sometimes we don't much snow in winter and other years it seems
to snow everyday. In the summer it's usually hot and humid
but this past summer we only had a few sunny days.
It rained all summer.

Yes, our summer was weird too, no one really knew when time would be the best to go to the beach. I probably canceled beach trips for 10 or 12 times lol Oh well, I guess we just have to get used to what we have
