After installing the journal, click Edit Skin. Under Skin Header, replace the "YOUR_USERNAME_HERE" with your username for the links to work. Also replace my icon with yours.

like for a base image so the edges arent cut off, but it fits good.

For some reason in the CSS code under Journal Text, I can't get the 'note me/gallery' and links, to align in the centre or to the left (it's classed as 'justify)' so that's it's readable. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Are you having a problem with your Merry Christmas journal? From what I see, the links on your journal are readable and in the center as it should be.
If you want to make your Gallery | Favorites | Note Me links on the left, you can go to the CSS code and search for .links which should be near the bottom of the code:
.links {
top: -45px;
margin-bottom:-35px;
text-align: justify
position: relative;
}
You can change "justify" to "left" and then add this bit before the }
margin-left:60px;
so that the links don't go shooting off to the left
