if I may, I suggest you turn out more and shift your weight more over your largest three toes

I am only the photographer of this series, and I personally have no idea about the technique behind pointe, or the finer details of form and where weight is supposed to be balanced. The shot was done on 35mm film, and I only had one roll for what turned out to be 8 final photographs.
In 2008, this was the first time in a year that my friend had put her point shoes on, from what I understand. She doesn't practice ballet anymore as she knew that she couldn't turn it into a career. She's since gone into the medical field as her career.
However, as an example of where to place weight, this could very well be an interesting tool. If you, or anyone else, wish to use this as a teaching tool, please let me know so that I can grant permission for the usage and acknowledge it in the comments as an "official use" note.

Interesting series! I like the way you moved from the contrast of ballet slippers and jeans to the formal "proper" look. Really excellent depth of focus (or is it depth of field? I can nvr keep the two straight......) Anyway, great work! I think I like this photo the best. The shadows are excellent, and the way the slippers seem to be coming out of it is very effective. This piece esspecially reminds me of Edgar Degas.....

Thank you so very much for your words! It's a really interesting and new thing for me to be doing a photography series upon any one subject, and to get good crit on it is heartening! I'm very happy with how it came out, the contrasts between almost-untouched photos to one that I had worked on for three hours in post-processing. It's been a learning experience.
Once again, thank you for your compliments!

Yeah, college! Whoo!
I'm currently at the end of year one of three. It's a bit odd to be done already, but I'm ready to go home, even if the time did fly.

I'm currently enrolled at a seminary to become a Christian minister. I'm in a three-year certificate program with options to transfer all those credits to an accredited college elsewhere. What about you?

Yeap! I just don't know where I'm going to be going yet. As for graphic and web design, those people are needed all the time. A fresh look at art is always a cool thing.

Let's see....sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, oh...I mean...
I love reading and writing too. I mostly write scripts, I would love to get into filmmaking. The Lord of the Rings is my big obbsession..... I looove downhill skiing, but that's sort of restricted to winter...snow is kind of important.. Sci fi/ fantasy movies are awesome! Yes! And omg, the new Transformers movie rocked out. I also like summer, when it's warm, because currently I"m /freezing/.... And for some reason I have a penchant for early American and modern Russian history...and elipsises... >.> Ok, shutting up!
