Hey now, a painting! Finally! This is a reworking of my old (old old old) piece Ultimate End. I've wanted to revisit that concept for a while but kept getting tied up in other projects. Well no more!There are a few photographic elements worked in here but the majority of this was painted by hand in Photoshop. Took about two and a half weeks to do.

- DAILY DEVIATION UPDATE -
Hey, a daily deviation! Thanks all! For those who aren't familiar with my old work, this is a reworking of a piece called Ultimate End that depicted a massive stellar shockwave destroying planets. I somehow doubt the physics of the piece, but a spectacle it would certainly be. At Last Light is a update of that concept in my current style.
I've changed the uploaded file to a larger size for those requesting wallpaper resolution.

Excellent work, as always. Its good to see another space painting from you, even if it is a rework of an old one. I've always loved you work, and have two huge Zazzle prints of "Maelstrom II" and "Deepness Dawns" framed and hanging on my wall. I was always a bit saddened that you seemed to no longer do space art, so this is an extra treat!

Excellent piece! I've taken up digital painting recently and I'm trying to decide which software is superior to do pieces from scratch over. Photoshop or Corel Painter? I have both.

Haven't used painter a whole lot... by the time it came out I was pretty comfy with photoshop so never made the switch. In that respect I'm biased but Photoshop does the trick for me.

I was actually about to ask if this was one of your old ones till I read the description. I love this piece in it's brilliance very beautiful. as all your work is. I am very glad to see one of your digital painting since its been a while... I do enjoy your photography but I am amazed by the gorgeous digital painting you do. You are indeed very talented.
