This thing. XD
I don't really know how this thing ended up like it did!
Long story short: Once, years ago, I saw a really bizarre fellow fly an extremely realistic kite that looked like a fantasy sea-snake. This one guy, dressed up in a tuxedo and bowtie, looked absolutely misplaced during the new year's eve, in the middle of the beach. AND he happened to be flying an extremely realistic sea-serpent kite across the firework-lit night sky.
The entire scene was completely surreal and absurd, and I never forgot about it XD

A week or so ago, my good friend and I were talking about random things and odd memories...and this memory popped up in our conversation. Then, somehow, we ended up laughing about this and joking about the kite maybe being a "baby Vassa". (Vassa is the name J-.M Lee gave to the huge living monster-ship owned by skekSa the Mariner in his novel "Tides of the dark crystal" .)

The monster in itself (Vassa) is a "Behemoth", and looks roughly like a humongous snapping-turtle according to C.Godbey's cool illustrations for Lee's book.
Even tho I don't really Headcanon most of the novel stuff or the behemoth-ship, Zure and I had a hearthy laugh joking about that kite being a "flying carapaceless baby behemoth" and "What if the behemoth mother, a.k.a skekSa's ship, would fret about her little one flying around, then jump out of the water to tell him to come down? Poor skekSa might get accidentally catapulted off her ship..." XD -
I owe a huge deal of inspiration and laughter to Zure, and this drawing is no exception. ^^
The whole thing took such a strong mental image that I just had to draw it.

In the beginning, I had thought to make it a small, ink-only drawing, but once it was sketched, I felt like painting the waves, and ended up coloring and detailing it, still don't know why. XD
This small silly joke ended up as an ellaborate drawing, and I regret nothing! XD

**Poor skekSa, though. I really like her as a character, she doesn't deserve this! Blame my weird sense of humor on this one! **
