Description Raichu is a collaboration between me and Brandon. And yes, the tail was a pain in the ass ... no pun intended!

It took me almost as long to build just the tail as it did the head! Because of the extraordinary length, each attached section needed to be really dry before the next piece was inserted. And then, I cured overnight, balanced on it's face and tail-tip! But the result is really worth the patience.

And once again, I cannot reiterate how important it is to use REALLY good glue and decent paper (no less than 120gsm).

This one should be fairly straight forward model to build, but there are a couple of tricky bits - the ear curl and the tail.

As a warning, these two sections will be placed on their own separate sheets on the template - just in case of construction mistakes - that way you can re-print just those parts. This does mean that there is a lot of blank "wasted" paper, but remember, paper is cheaper than printer ink!

This one will be published shortly - as soon as all the PokΓ©dolls are posted on our blog [link] .

The tail is connected to the bottom, and then is free all the way up to the tip of the tail.

Sadly I've never been able to download pokecraft templates, no matter what I've tried. : (

I appologise if I sound like I am treating you like an idiot, but you'd be surprised at how often we get the same questions, most of which are solved by the most basic troubleshooting.

- Firstly, make sure you've got an unarchiving program installed on your computer, such as winRAR (there are many free alternate programs, such as 7zip).

- Then, I can presume you've clicked on either A4 / LETTER download links
located at the bottom of each post.

This is the part where you need to tell me what exactly happens and we'll see if we can diagnose the problem.

I will try again with winRAR, I had previously deleted it from my hard drive after I needed more room for my ROM files. Thank you for replying!

Can you help me with 7zip?

Skele-kitty In reply to QuestionRenee [2012-03-20 07:51:00 +0000 UTC]

uh, what seems to be the problem?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

QuestionRenee In reply to Skele-kitty [2012-03-20 22:09:14 +0000 UTC]

I have downloaded 7zip, but I can't seem to figure out how to open a .rar file. I have a icon for a .rar file on my desktop, I right click and click "Open with" and click on "7zip console" but nothing seems to happen.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to QuestionRenee [2012-03-21 03:48:30 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, that's really bizarre! The specs say that 7zip definitely opens up .rar files. Oh! I figured it out - I had to install it to see what was happening, myself!

- OK, first you have to click on the application in "all programs" to open it.
- When you have the 7zip window open, you should be able to navigate throught he root file displayed in the window, to the .rar file, so for example c:\user\mycomputer\downloads.
- highlight the file you want extracted, then click on the big dark blue minus symbol, which will bring up another pop-up window asking you where you want the file extracted.
- it's probably simpler if you extract it to the desktop - all of our download packs are packaged in their own folders, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding the templates.

Yeah, not the simplest program to use, but effective enough. Good luck.

Thank you, I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out, too. I was a little worried about the integrity of the tail but it turned out better than I expected.

Yes, I know! All the PokΓ©s we make for PaperpokΓ©s have shiny textures

That is very cool. :3

I feel like making this Raichu Paperpoke in the colors of my GS Raichu that I had from my Silver version (originally Red version but I traded it).

..I can do that right..? I miss my Raichu, my Silver's batteries died. (thus I lost my Raichu)

Skele-kitty In reply to Vanilla-Kirby [2009-08-02 23:47:16 +0000 UTC]

Can you build the shiny Raichu? Sure, of course you can!

Just print up the shiny .PDF and go nuts. Just make sure you have really, really, REALLY good glue, especially for the tail, otherwise it'll be a waste of time, paper and ink for you.

I would recomend Power Pritt Gel, or Aleene's Original Tacky Glue.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vanilla-Kirby In reply to Skele-kitty [2009-08-02 23:53:28 +0000 UTC]

XD

I meant like.. edit the colors and then make it XD my shiny Raichu was gold and silver colors.

I doubt that wimpy glue sticks or Elmer's glue would work to perfection..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to Vanilla-Kirby [2009-08-03 01:37:35 +0000 UTC]

OH!!!! LOL, I understand now
Sure, edit it if you want, you have all the textures in the D/L pack, just recolour them in Photoshop.

And yes, I seriously doubt that Elmer's will do the trick, but you could always try.

Good luck.

I actually found it a few minutes ago. XD I forgot that today was the 13th and it was due out today. lol Which is blasphemy, because I'd been counting down the days for almost a week. lol

I'm going to try an easy one first though. Since I've never done paper crafts before I think I'll be asking for trouble if I try the Raichu right away. XD

I need to find some good glue too and the right paper. I saw it mentioned somewhere that the paper should be 120gsm or gms, whatever one it is. But I've had no luck finding anything higher than 75. I think at the end of the month I'll try a good office supplies store. I bet they'd have some. ^_^

Eeep!

You've never done papercraft before and you want to start of with Raichu?!

You are brave! Well, I wish you the very best of luck, and don't be discouraged if your first attempt doesn't turn out the way you hoped - it can only get better.

My first papercraft was Goomba [link] - much more simple than Raichu - and that was about ... um ... 4 years ago now!

And I didn't start to get good at papercraft until I test-built the Wind Waker Aryll [link] .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

x-ArtAppreciator-x In reply to Skele-kitty [2009-04-13 23:18:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh, no. lol I'm not doing Raichu first. I've saved some easier paper crafts that I plan on doing first. While I'd looooove to get my hands on Raichu asap, I'm not at all confident enough to try him first. I'm very excited to try him but me and paper don't usually get along. I've been trying to fold paper stars for a couple years and still can't do those. lol I might fail at paper craft horribly.

But that way I can play with characters I might not like as much to make sure I've got the right kind of paper and the best kind of glue that I can. ^___^

Jackce-Art [2009-04-12 18:47:01 +0000 UTC]

wow, can you make a tutorial? XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to Jackce-Art [2009-04-13 09:06:34 +0000 UTC]

If you've never done papercraft, I wouldn't recommend this as a beginners model - it's really about a moderate to hard difficulty level.

We do have some easier models on our blog [link] but on the whole, most of our models do require a certain level of experience.

But if you are determined to give this one a go, good for you! You can download this model here: [link]

I don't normally do tutorials, but the basics are: start at the head and work you way down to the bottom. Make the arms and legs separately and attach them to the body.

The ears and tail are the tricky parts of this model. The ear curl must be glued together and cut out before the ear is constructed.

The tail should be made and attached before the main body is closed up. Start at the base of the tail, and build each section before inserting it, with a generous amount of glue, into the previous part.

Remember to wait for that section to cure (dry) completely before moving on to the next piece.

You will need:
- good paper (<120gsm or <32 lb),
- really, really good glue (Power Pritt Gel or Aleene's Original Tacky Glue),
- tweezers,
- scissors, and
- an empty fine tip ball-point pen.

And you will need to have a PDF Reader [link] and Pepakura Viewer [link] .

Good luck and do not hesitate to ask me for any advice.

Most of these are available on our blog as PDF/PDO templates to download and build for yourself.

Some are hard, and some are moderate in difficulty. Hardly any are beginner-easy, I'm afraid.

But when I started papercrafting, I pretty much jumped into the deep end and built a very hard model [link] after two relatively easy ones [link] .
