I love the eyes and the arms, the wrinkles in the clothing... not that i am a great artists but the leg coming around should be a bit bigger... Overall i think its a great piece! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/> The color int the background is really creative and i like how she is looking toward the light.. the fading around her should be evened out a bit... her tail should be more pronounced... her ears... you might want to color them in more, it looks like you didn't color them in her skin color... i really enjoyed this piece Kayla. A job well done!

Good points: Good use of what is almost a monochromatic color palette. Good dimensionality in the upper body, showing or indicating structure in those areas as well. I also like the expression on her face. Subtle and emotive. one of the best parts of the piece.

Moving on to the lower figure, the legs seem to lose a little bit of form or function in relation to the upper body. Something is being lost there and I'm not quite sure I can put my finger on the exact reason, but I might be able to suggest a few suspects. It seems like you were aiming for a more sad, or somber mood with the pose, and so keeping that in mind, the primary arc in the trunk of the body will be along the back.

Think of the trunk of the body kind of like they do in animation circles, as a sack of flour. The sack will generally have one long stretched out side, and a 'compressed' side made up of two or more shorter, inward pointing lines. If the character is proud, chest sticking out, the streche4d side is the front. If the character is downbeat, sad or deflated, the back stretches into one long force and the front collapses into two smaller ones. Most trunk poses fall generally into these categories. (there is one notable exception, but that wouldn't seem to apply here) Your figure here is more pinched and symmetrical at the waist, and I think the symmetry is taking some of the energy and form from the overall pose.

The other thing that would help clarify things is to make sure the center of the trunk is clearly identified from one end to the other. The upper torso is fine in this regards, as the neck muscles, colllarbone and neckline all clearly indicate where that is.

Moving to the lower torso, the indicators get a little bit more muddled. The apex of the curve that forms the bottom of the shirt places the center aiming off to the right, but the lines where the legs meet the pelvis indicate the center is aiming at the viewer more squarely. Keeping in mind the three-dimensionality of the figure you're trying to draw and where the centerlines are, will help a lot in seeing these elements and keep them working in concert with one another.

Oh, Vee! You masterfully-crafted creation! You deftly-chiseled character, hewn from the mental marble of inspiration and expression! Truly, you are an embodiment of artwork in one of its purest forms!

This can be nothing short of completely original. 1) Because Vee is an original herself, and 2) your watermark and signature are clearly present, further emphasizing "I MADE THIS".

And the technique! Shading, lighting, depth, expression...all marvelous! The black in the bottom left seems a little abrupt, though, and the goggles seem to be pressed into her head, but no matter! That fails to take away from the overall accomplishment presented here.

And LOOK AT THOSE EYES! Never before have I seen such a blue! Her eyes alone could tell you that she is an anthromorph, because such a blue conveys both the deep feelings owned by humans, and the wild spirit of a feral beast. Her body says she is stubborn, and her face says she is somber, or sad. She looks hurt, emotionally hurt, as though whatever it is she is looking at is a source of regret or remorse. She does not seem entirely secure, but I still detect some confidence within her.

Truly, this one is no flat character. She has been labored over, the rough edges have been trimmed away until only the smooth and faceted faces of Vee remain, as a proverbial diamond hewn from the quarry of the mind, which is in its own right a three-pound universe.

Lovely picture. I'm feeling kind of cold, looking at it. Also I like how the shades of black and blue kind of fade to white. The black really gives the cold feeling though.
