Poor lil' guy, or gal. I like it ... simple, communicative, and well done. This made me go find my cat and pet her so I could check to see that she wasn't sad or feeling too alone ... it also makes me want to move someplace where I can keep a dog.

Weird. I just did a drawing of my own fox character crying a few days ago, though I haven't uploaded it yet. I think yours looks nicer and cuter than mine, though. He looks like he's ashamed or regretful to be crying covering his eyes like that, like he doesn't want to appear weak or express his emotions in front of other people. Poor guy...
