sounds good, but I'm not sure if I really know what is it. Genetic mutation? Well... It's rather not, it's a bit usual thing in that world while some period of it's degradation.

I don't know what it is either. Just recently had a dream - not a nightmare, but a dream - which involved the term and some very similar imagery. Have no idea where or if I had heard it before, so was curious if you might know.

It concerned a desert cult, a bit similar to buddhist nuns in appearance, seeking enlightenment through xenoimplantation: A chimera, seemingly otter/octopus, is inserted into the peritoneal cavity with an umbilical cord. The facial area is sealed and all input and output - breath, nutrition, speech, sight - monitored and archived.
Despite the grotesque imagery, had a very thorough feeling of genuine care and tenderness to it.
If there is a place whence dreams come, wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the (unseen) monks dwelling on the opposite side of the desert, seeking a similar goal and employing similar technology, but with a different twist. And if as Pratchett suggested the cosmos is crowded and the various afterlives are just squeezed in wherever there's room, it might well be where Beksinski convalesces after a rough last few years.
Ah, but forgive my rambling. Good art does engage. Well done.
