Ah, what is an extruder? Does it make your clay into thin strings? And where can I get it? Reply preaaase Thankyou~

An extruder is the green tube thing. It takes your clay and pushes it though different disks with shapes cut into them to make your clay different shapes. You don't have to use it for this tutorial I just find it easier than rolling out tiny bits of black. I got my extruder at Michaels but you can find them at most craft stores starting at around 20 dollars. I hope this helps if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hmm... I see that you have Fimo and Sculpey III combined in one project. Since they have different cook times, how long did you bake this? Fimo says for 30 minutes, but Sculpey says for 15....?

skookyspry In reply to HeavenlySheep [2011-07-16 18:04:05 +0000 UTC]

I've never had a problem with mixing them I always just use the time for fimo and it works out fine.

Cute tutorial = D
I've always wonder this, can you bake sculpey, fimo, ad premo together in one project?
Since they require different temperatures but it made me wonder if they could still be baked together?
Thanks if you could help me with this = D
Sometimes i wanna mix 2 clays together b/c of the colours but I never know if its allowed n what tempt. would i set for the oven etc.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to CelestialTennyo [2009-05-06 06:48:07 +0000 UTC]

I mix them all the time and they work out just fine for me. I use sculpey and premo alot to colour my clear fimo. The only one I've used that I wouldn't mix with the others is Kato clay because the cook time is so different. When I mix them the tempurature that I cook them at depends on the mix. If it's more fimo then I cook it at the time for fimo but if it's more sculpey or premo them I cook at the higher temp.

If you have any other questions just let me know.

Hey! Question.
First of all, that came out really nice. The kiwi one did too 8D I wish I could pull that off...Dx

Uhm, anyways, I was wondering how you cut your cane. I use the pear knife that they recommend, and have already tried the exacto-knife; both of them blended the colors and squished the piece so it was in oval. Anyway I can fix this? Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to Labradollie [2009-05-10 08:01:58 +0000 UTC]

Hey sorry for the late reply I've been super busy.

If you want thicker slices then I would suggest that you put them in the fridge or freezer for awhile before cutting them this will firm them up and should help to prevent the blending and squashing.

If you want thin slices like fruits I usually cook them first and then cut them with a very sharp exacto knife. It helps if you cut it when it's hot but don't burn your fingers lol.

Hope this answers your question and helps you out.
