Description I woke up and it was morning. I opened my eyes slowly, and I was confused. This was not my room; I didn't recognise the furniture or the view outside the window in front of me. Then I remembered everything that had happened yesterday. I looked at my hand to see if everything that happened last night was not a dream. It was covered in silver and gray scales, and my fingers ended in onyx claws.
"I did do it." I thought to myself, "I made myself a dragon."
At that point, I was feeling pretty disoriented. It's hard to explain, but it was like my arms were in front of me and behind me at the same time. I moved my "other arm" to look and saw it was a wing, which moved just like my actual arm. I also felt warmth on the small of my back, and I could only determine that it was my tail. I looked around behind me and tried to get it to move. I didn't do anything for a moment, and then it wagged a little, responding to my thoughts the way my body always had.
I decided it was time to go see myself in the mirror. I got out of the bed and immediately tripped over my now much bigger feet, like I was wearing flippers. I got back up, and found it was easier to walk on the balls of my new feet. Now able to walk, I went to the ensuite bathroom behind me. And sure enough, in the bathroom mirror, a silver dragon's face stared back at me. I looked hard at that reflection. It was alien to me, and yet it also seemed familiar, like the face I'd seen in mirrors my whole life. My eyes were the same colour as before, but my pupils were silts instead of circles. I still had hair, the same annoying long wavy hair I used to try for ages to straighten out, but now about 4 pairs of black horns poked out the back of my head, each one smaller than the one above . The scales on my body shined, except for the ones on the front of my much longer neck and chest, which were a dull light grey.  It was such a shock to know that this would be me for the rest of my life. And yet, it was reaffirming too.  I left the ensuite and went back to my room.
The room seemed a lot smaller than I remembered last night. I wondered about that for a while, and then marvelled at my idiocy. Of course the room was smaller, I was bigger I was probably about 10 feet tall by now. Then I realised I had a problem. On the ground were the shredded remains of the clothes I was wearing last night. There was no way I would be wearing them again, and I couldn't leave this room as I was now, in the nude. I went to the cupboard and searched through, and I was relieved when I found a pair of grey pants (which had a hole in the back, which I guessed was for my tail) and a red singlet. It was a weird one; it had buttons up the back of it, which were undone. I put my head through the neck hole, trying not to get it caught on my horns, and fastened them behind me, noticing how they were meant to go around my wings. Satisfied that I was clothed, I walked out of my room.
I entered the kitchen and saw that Rosethorn was at the table with her sketchpad. I quietly snuck up behind her to see what she was drawing. It was a black and white sketch of a dragon curled up on the floor with its eyes closed, seemingly unconscious. I realised it was a picture of me last night after the transformation.
"Wow, I didn't realise I looked like that last night." I said. She jumped in her seat, before turning around to look at me. "Nice drawing, by the way."
"Skyder, you're OK." She put the sketchpad down on the table. "I was worried about you."
"It's OK, I'm all right."
"I was in the living room when I heard your screams, we knew what you had done, but we didn't want to come in while it was happening. So we waited until we couldn't hear anything else and came in to see if you needed help. You looked so weak, like you were drained."
"How long was I out?"
"About 8 hours."
I pulled out a chair, and sat down. I didn't feel hungry at that point; I'd grab something later if I needed to. "Where are BlueScale and Grym?"
"Both in bed, I think." She looked down to the floor for a moment, when she looked back at me; her eyes were rimmed with tears.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm so confused right now. Since you fell asleep, I've heard screams in different areas of the complex. It sounds like some of the others took the Dracozine as well. I couldn't sleep last night, I've been here since 4 this morning, with this." She showed me her syringe in her hand. "I keep thinking about whether I should use this or not. It's what I always wanted, but I don't know if it's right for me.  How it will affect the people I care about. I just don't know what to do."
I felt like a fool right there. I never know what to do in situations like this; the only thing I could think of was to console her. "It's OK; you don't have to be afraid of this. It's your choice to make, no one else's. "
"But how can I know if I make the right one?"
"Trust me, you'll know."
Then I heard footsteps. I turned around to see BlueScale walking in the kitchen dressed in pyjamas, scratching the back of his head. He walked right past me, went to the fridge and grabbed an apple. He turned around, took a big bite and nearly choked when he saw me. After a frenzy of coughing and spluttering, he was finally able to say "It's you!"
"Yeah it's me."
He regained his composure, "Glad to see you're OK."
"Thanks."
He eyed my body up and down, "So, you took the Dracozine."
"Was it that obvious?"
"Had a rough idea when I heard you screaming from your room."
"And you're a dragon now?"
"Wings and all."
"You got some stones, man. I spent the whole night awake, thinking whether I should use this syringe or not, and you just take it first chance you get!"
"There was some thinking involved. So have you seen Grym?"
"I just talked to him in his room, He said he was about to use the Dracozine. Wanted us to leave the apartment for a while when he did. "
"Really?"  I got up, curious, "OK then, let's get ready, and we'll go for a tour of the complex. Give him some time to himself, and see what there is to do around here."
"Sounds like a plan. I'll go and get dressed. "He turned and went back to his room.
"Are you sure you want to go out, when you're like this? " Rosethorn asked nervously.
"Yeah, it'll be OK." I told her, and winked,  "This place was made for dragons anyway."

When BlueScale was ready, us three went to Grym's room to tell him we were heading out. He nodded quietly while he sat on his bed, staring at the syringe in his hand.  He looked scared, he asked me to stay while the other two waited outside.
"Does it hurt that bad?" he asked me.
"It does hurt quite a bit," I told him, "and you feel weak afterward, but it goes away."
He chuckled under his breath as he looked at the syringe in his hands. "I have been Otherkin for over seven years. I go to forums all over the internet, talking with others, letting them know I was a dragon in human form. How it tore me up inside to wake up every morning, and find I was still human. The human and dragon parts of my mind fight a war every day, a savage internal conflict with no hope of resolution. But now, I have a chance to become what I already was." He looked up at me. "I'm going to be a dragon, Skyder, and I'll finally be at peace with myself."
I smiled, "I hope it works out for you."
"Thanks." he held out his arm and moved the syringe close to it "You better go. I'll see you later."
"Later, Grym."  I left his room.
As we left the apartment, we heard him crying out in pain. We kept walking and left him to it. Grym seemed like one of those lone wolf guys, the type that prefers to be alone more often than with company. This was a life changing event he was about to undertake, and he wanted to be alone when it happened.

would you take the dracozine?
my answer: yes
i would take it within a few minutes of being inside my room

Ok, for that same question, I have a different answer, but the same all in one. (just read and you'll see)
My answer: After a while, probably
However, this would involve my mind literally going at itself, not just half and half on the dragon being let out and such, but literally my entire mind, warping into a battlefield where every view I can imagine starts to duke it out, fist to cuffs. That leaves me (The main voice) and the other half (The other main voice) stuck in this. In the end, the answer is one of many, but more then likely, yes. This is probably way to much for me to say, but, as they say and have said for many, many years. The truth will set you free

If i described a DigiBipe, id say it would be around eight foot.

thats 10 feet in height, not stature. they bend their knees when they walk, and generally hunch forward (extra weight of the wings means they got more to hold up on their spinal column) that shaves off a couple of feet when in a casual position. you only really see them at their full height when theyre against a wall, like for a mug shot in the police station.

Interesting. At first, I thought Grym would be the kind of character that would be a complete asshat (pardon the language) the whole story, but now I have a little bit more respect for him. Skyder still steals the show though. Keep up the good work.

Grym isn't a bad guy. He comes off abrasive because being Otherkin, he has known very few people who knew what he was going through as a human. More to the point, the mockery he has gone through for being who he is has made it hard for him to trust others.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks very much. I enjoy writing these as much as you enjoy reading them. I was worried that the depth I went into was becoming tedious to read, like some writers I know who aim for a higher word count rather than a good piece of literature. Its good to know that's not the case.

It was actually hit and miss with Grym, because I dont really know any Otherkin, n ad therefore had nothing to base him on. I'm glad to know I got it right, thanks for letting me know. As for the next installment, I will be posting a new part of the series once a week, so part 5 will be here next week.
