Description So, this is the setup I got for working on art projects! (Not as flashy as the old one, but still good!)

It's pretty meagre, but it gets the job done. Future upgrades will probably involve a complete overhaul of the hardware, a Cintiq, an actual desktop computer, a better monitor... but for now, this works.

Also, reason the wacoms up on a wooden stand like that, is I get derpy on my paintings cus of the "Pen down, look up" deal with most tablets. It helps a bunch, and I'd recommend it for those without Cintiqs.

Feel free to ask any questions.

LOL mine is a laptop top with 2.1 sound and an old pc next to it for music (and 90's games since they are too [ "are you talking to me?" ]new for dos box but too old for windows 7/2010's pcs)

A drawing glove?
i now have the mental image that every time you sit down to draw is like a 1920's gent going out for a drive with his leather driving gloves with there associated pomp and ceremony

Skyder117 In reply to poly-dragon [2014-08-16 14:25:55 +0000 UTC]

Bit... less... formal than that. Thing is I'm a lefty, so my hands smearing up and down the tablet when I draw. Problem is it makes my hand all sticky, so I gotta wear a glove to stop it sticking to the wacom and messing up my strokes

Nice place to work. I hope I can have one like you. Mine has no decoration just full of wires and dust. The wall's also completely white.
The computer I use is only Surface Pro and a normal cheap mouse. It's still good that I have another monitor like yours. :3
I agree the the stand for the Wacom. I cannot draw when I can't see what I drew. = ="
I think if it makes your job done, it's perfect already.

Ah haaaa- this is the station at its tidiest, most of the time the cables are aaaaall over the place

And that stand is so useful, I cant understand why a lot of artists dont do it!

As for getting the job done... weeeeell, it does, in the same way that a Volkswagen Beetle will get you to work in the morning. You'd stiiiiill drop it in a heartbeat if you were offered a Ferrari.

looks good , i would love a intuos but they are so expensive , so i make do with my Wacom Bamboo for the moment but i have pretty good setup in terms of keyboard and mouse using a full a Logitech setup Performance MX mouse and the G510 Keyboard which I have mapped and created an applet for Photoshop CC , Topaz Labs Detail 3 and noise remover.

my pc and monitor do all the other hard workΒ

You mapped an applet for Photoshop CC, you mean like an actual hotkey applet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim2700 In reply to Skyder117 [2014-08-16 20:18:25 +0000 UTC]

sorry bit confusing , I mapped the keyboard with the Logitech software and then made a LCD applet for Photoshop and the topaz labs applications it cycles the image size , resolution etc Β ,Β
the topaz labs applet shows me various settings such as the percentages and the de noise or Detail profile i am usingΒ

An intuos is mostly not better that a bamboo (or intuos pro vs intuos, as it's called now). It's got more keys, shure, but you got PS CC. I have to use a mediocre 6gb ram, i3dualcore (ivy bridge), 1gb Nvidia geforce gt 620m AND to top it all off, I have Photoshop Elements 11 - which sucks. But it works. I recommend for everybody working traditionally once in a while, it helps. Doing fine art and such. And well, if you've got the other hardware you mentioned, then you won't have to worry about shortcuts xD What makes an artist good is mostly his skill and not his setup. (And I only have one 15" screen, Laptop, you know - sucks too xD)

absolutely agree i still like the traditional aswell always thought the intous pro was a better setup well you learn something new all the time.

Β Some say it's more comfortable, but everything's a matter of habituation. For photography, a bamboo should suffice. And oops, didn't see you were a photographer! So if you work traditionally, that's an entirely different thing. But working off-digital is really interesting sometimes, there are effects out there PS probably couldn't handle.
