He is so awesome!
I honestly can't get enough of this guy.
If dreamy flying whales were the best thing ever, then this guy just topped it off.

Poor Milo, all those barnacles must be itchy. XD
Taking another look at the background, I feel like adding some yellow to the light parts of the sky would benefit the pieces, I feel like the highlights of Milo's skin and the sky start to blends together. I think, since Milo is a cool neutral, that adding a little warm cream/yellow to the sky would help him pop and keep him from getting lost. Other than that, I do enjoy the background, I feel it adds enough of an environment without taking attention away from Milo himself.
The barnacles read really well,I remember that was a concern for you but I feel that you tackled them nicely. They stand out without being obnoxious, just like real barnacles on whale skin. (Poor bbys). Milo's design is really getting more and more interesting, the addition of scars and barnacles gives us a lot of insight on his size and his age. It also helps him read as less human, granted I adore all of the sea-creature characters you've designed so far.
We talked a bit about how to make Milo's design less soft, perhaps painting with harder edges will help? Your painting style in general is very soft, but perhaps adding some hard edges to the shadows on his body will help show the more....chiseled look you want?
I love this piece and I'm so excited to see Milo get some time in the spotlight again!

I've had to take some time to just design some more chiseled men in general, my tendency is to draw men that are far too soft. I'll maybe post more of those studies.
Thank you so much again for the critique! Your feedback is always indispensable!

It's a pleasure as always to see pieces featuring this character! You did an excellent job again - you've done a wonderful job of the lighting against his skin in particular.
