After the events of M11, Ash sent his mother a basket of Gracidea flowers. In Greyverse, he also sent one to every one of his past companions. And Skye too, kek.
He sent one to Skye to thank him for taking care of Pidgeot. The gesture really touched Skye and it could be considered the first proper step towards their blooming relationship.
The Gracidea flower meaning sticks with Skye, as he later tries to find a Gracidea flower to give Ash to thank him for being his friend. He is a huge sap under that depression and angst, after all.

Then, soon after Ash started travelling through Unova, Skye started having dreams with Ash being the main focus. He had dreams with Ash in them before, so he didn't think much of it- until his dreams turned more and more obviously romantic GAY in nature.
The one depicted would be one of his early dreams since it isn't overtly gay just yet.

I do like how the colours came out in this one, though my grass painting skills definitely needs work. and god damn i wasn't gon draw a billion flowers to make a huge field like in m11, heck dat fam
