Thanks I might do a little fine tuning over the next day of two but this is essentially how I see James being built if he actually existed. The original Jonathan Clay painting isn't one of James's superheated brothers built in 1912 but an older 27 Class type rebuilt. These engines still shared the same wheelbase and a lot of other standard parts with them though so still makes for a good photoshop donor Basically I've enlarged his driving wheels, splashers and naturally added a pony truck extension as part of his known MT design history. I did bring in the Hoy-Hughes tender that the 657 Class were built with along with their superheater damper (the cylinder on his smokebox and the surrounding gumage) but unlike them I included the 'L' spectacle that some rebuilt engines gained when receiving a Belpaire boiler. In real life some engines such as a few ex-FR 0-6-0s gained the stumpier L shaped windows that the L&Y's 2-4-2 tank engines were built with but I couldn't really justify it on James and so the above is something of a compromise between his RWS look and what I think is correct as the 657's merely had vertical slit windows.
I might (eventually) do another pre-Sodor edit where he has been given an older tender and is in a more familiar looking livery but I had wanted to do one of him in ex-Works condition for a while
