These old black/white buildings have a unique feel to them. This oneΒ΄s outstanding. A gentle dignity to it.

It does look interesting from the outside and I was expecting a very special interior but have to confess that I was a little disappointed: it was really quite ordinary! It was however warm which, after watching a cricket match in the freezing cold, was most welcome!!Β

Yes, many pubs make a special effort with the outside - to attract passing trade I expect. Glad it was warm.

It's a shame that the interior of this one doesn't live up to the exterior: it's in a lovely little village with the cricket pitch right opposite and a church just up the road but it just hasn't the atmosphere!

I reckon thatΒ΄s the landlord/landlady - some of them have the gift of hospitality but others just canΒ΄t make happen.Β

Perfectly situated opposite the cricket ground where my husband was playing cricket! Although the match was not the most riveting, I did not succumb to the pleasures of 'The Local'!!

Although I know how to handcraft ale and stout, I am not one to drink often. In my younger days, I was not so careful.Β

Indeed and, even better, it's right over the road from the cricket pitch! Ideal when there's not a lot happening in the match! Β
