Just glad some people also enjoy the style. Maybe if any of the people who are listening to it so much use audioscrobbler, my page will start displaying these tracks, instead of those from "Scottish Watercolor For The Hybird Mind."

Codex-nz In reply to smashmethod [2005-07-14 08:50:54 +0000 UTC]

whyd u do that?? and also im a lil lsot with some names of ur stuff, wat the hell does dub remix mix blah blah mean cause all i know is that its all remixed :S

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

smashmethod In reply to Codex-nz [2005-07-14 08:59:43 +0000 UTC]

Well all of my songs are named correctly ahead of time, so, so long as you don't change the title, they should remain named correctly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Codex-nz In reply to smashmethod [2005-07-14 22:22:28 +0000 UTC]

ummmm that didnt really answer my question lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

smashmethod In reply to Codex-nz [2005-07-15 03:33:53 +0000 UTC]

I stopped using audioscrobbler because I don't like having my music tagged, and also because I frequently walk away from the computer leaving music on, and the stats were horribly inaccurate anyway.

As for what the names of the remixes mean, it has to deal with what was done to achieve the remix. Was it rewritten, remixed, dubbed over, edited, etc. Just the means and methods is all.

Codex-nz In reply to smashmethod [2005-07-15 05:17:46 +0000 UTC]

wud u be kind enoguh to explainthe differences??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

smashmethod In reply to Codex-nz [2005-07-15 06:10:29 +0000 UTC]

If I just lay a new drum track over the original: Overdub
If I overly drums, and change some instruments: Dub
If I rearrange the original, and edit drums, etc: Edit
If I rewrite/rearrange substantial portions of the song: Remix

They're not hard and fast rules, but usually I go by something close to that. Sometimes I just make up stuff, so it looks different. Just tacking "remix" on the end of everything is boring.

Sampler sounded quite nice, downloading now.

Sadly (well, only sort of) it seems that Another World isn't from the game of that name (also known as Out Of This World)...its ending theme is so hauntingly beautiful. That might not make a good opening track, though.

undefinedone In reply to smashmethod [2005-07-12 07:41:21 +0000 UTC]

If you'd like, I could upload a recording I reconstructed from the MIDI and the instrument sound samples from the game data (the game itself is too old, and won't run on my computer )...however a lot of its impact really comes from seeing it in the context of the game, having played through it and coming to its ending sequence.

BTW, what I've played so far of Console Collective sounds great.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

smashmethod In reply to undefinedone [2005-07-12 07:55:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

And sure, I'll take whatever samples you have. What console was that game on?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

undefinedone In reply to smashmethod [2005-07-16 03:16:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, by "samples" I just meant that the game's music was generated by playing back a midi with custom instrument sounds, which I exported to recreate the theme outside of the game.

The game was on PC (Windows), Mac, and possibly a Nintendo console, though I'm not sure about the last one... You can find it here .

I put the ending theme up here , though it really is best to hear it in context in the game.

Terra's Theme is by far my favorite song. But your old song, Euphoria, will remain my all-time-favorite.

I always thought Departure/Euphoria remix were the highlights of the quadrophonix work.

Thank you for commenting.

Nicely done. Another World and Terra's Theme are especially excellent. You should check out Overclocked Remix, if you haven't already. If you like video game remixes, that's the place to go.
