Description I’ve been meaning to draw these two for a long time now, and I’ve finally gotten around to it! Here are Caronia and Baltic, standing in… the Ritz in London?

Here are the notes for them!
-I originally planned to give Caronia a polka-dot skirt! Ultimately I didn’t do that as her outfit was cute enough without the dots… until January 23rd 2024, that is!
-Baltic’s outfit wasn’t meant to look like a flight attendant so much as just a helpful, practical woman’s attire, but the flight attendant vibe works really well for her! I also considered giving her pants, but went with a skirt instead.
-My original concept for Baltic was a fusion of 1920s fashion and elegant Gothic aesthetics with black lace and red roses. I ended up changing it because as cute as that would’ve been, it didn’t really suit her personality.
-Both of them share some facial features with a few of their fleetmates! Baltic’s sharp features and almost-perfectly-straight nose resemble the Olympic-class sisters, as do her eyes (although her eye shape is a bit more droopy than theirs); Caronia, meanwhile, has a similar nose to Mauretania as well as a crooked smile like Aquitania’s.
-If you look closely, Caronia has freckles!
-Baltic’s outfit is based on a 1930s fashion plate, while Caronia’s is inspired by a photograph (although it underwent so many changes you can’t really tell anymore).
-The pinkish color seen on Baltic’s shoes and belt is the 1920s incarnation of White Star Buff, more or less. I used the same color for her eyeshadow; interestingly, it looks distinctly yellow against her skin but pink everywhere else.
-I wanted the scene to look like they’re on a date at some fancy venue, so my original plan was to draw the Ritz Hotel in London for the background. I found a picture of the dining room as it appeared in 1907 as well as a modern color photo; my original plan was to draw the 1907 appearance in the modern colors. Right after I started that, though, I had a new idea and instead used the 1907 picture as an overlay layer which I essentially colored in underneath before applying a whole bunch of filters to add a dreamy vibe. It was a really fun technique to experiment with, but I don’t think I’ll do it again as it feels very lazy in hindsight.
-The title for this one comes from Cherry by Fletcher (no, not the destroyer) and Hayley Kiyoko!
Update 1/23/24: Caronia finally has the polka dots she deserves!! I changed my mind about em hehe
Update 5/7/24: Baltic’s arm is thicker now and she’s actually looking a bit more specifically at Caronia. Her eyes are still normal in her profile, though!
