Thin crisp air. It couldn't get better than that. It was early morning in Ponyville, the sun was barely starting to rise. It's warm and welcoming rays was just slowly beginning to creep upon the town. Everyone who lived there knew that the morning light would first brush down upon one of Ponyville's best running farms in the county, the Apple Farm. The very first ray of sun began to slowly stretch out across the orchard. The apple trees silently thanked the nice warm feeling of sun on their leaves as the apples shined bright, ready for a good day of picking.

Typically the Apple Family would be up and at it in the early morning, starting a brand new work day. Though most of the Apple family were curled up asleep this early morning, surprisingly. It's okay though, everyone deserves a break every now and than. However there was one individual who was already awake. While everyone was asleep in the house, one individual was missing from the home. All the farm animals were already awake and while they normally are squawking and honking, for food, attention, or both, they were quiet for a change. In the corner of the barn, the animals gathered from a distance as they looked with ease. There was another being there, laying softly beside the haystack. Her breathing was a bit staggered, taking in slow big breaths. The beating of her heart was so loud that it almost seemed to echo in her ears. Sweat had been tracking down along her face as she felt small little shivers spread throughout her entire body every now and then. Her head was resting against the sturdy haystack with her eyes closed. The barn animals looked with interest as a dog came forward. In her jaws she held a familiar hat as she walked forward slowly, her own pups scampering behind her in interest.

The older dog stopped just a step away from the pony. Ears flicking, the pony turned her head slightly to the sound of the dogs already soft steps. Eyes opening ever so slightly she recognized her old companion. The dog slowly placed the hat on the ground as she pawed it slightly over to the pony, whining slightly as if she were worried about the condition of her owner. "Hey Winona girl," the pony whispered ever so slightly. The dog wagged her tail slightly as she starred back, almost as if she were to ask if she were okay. The pony's look softened as she chuckled very softly, "I know y'all been concerned about me for the past couple of hours." Drawing in a steady breath she continued, "It hasn't been easy fer me. I know I shouldn't have done this alone but I didn't want to trouble anypony seeing it was a tad early than what we anticipated." Her emerald green eyes glowed as she finally turned to the barn critters, revealing something in her arms as she continued, "But it was all worth it." The critters in the barn looked with interest as the pony held a small petit figure in her hooves. It was wrapped up in what appeared to be some sort of hankerchief you'd wear by the neck as the small critter stirred slightly in the hooves of the older pony. Grey-brownish hair was sticking up everywhere as the little infant fidgeted every now and then. Winona's expression lightened when she finally got a look as to what her owner was holding as her own motherly instincts washed over her. Looking back at the dog, she nodded silently as Winona walked forward. The dog looked with excitement and ease at the small baby that was sleeping soundly in her mother's hooves.

Winona let out a quiet whine of pleasure as her tail wagged from side to side. The mother smiled as she leaned back against the haystack. She brought her infant close to her chest as she looked up slightly. You'll never hear the end of this from Ash. her conscious told her. She let out a sigh as she chuckled quietly to herself. It's true though he could hardly blame her, not only was he called out for work but their little baby came almost 2 weeks before the actual due date. However she could already hear her husbands words echo through her mind when he would arrive later on that morning, "Why didn't you tell anyone Applejack! At least they might have sent somepony after me so that I could at least be there to help you through it my darling." She opened her eyes as she thought I'll deal with that when the time comes.

Suddenly she felt her hooves move as she looked down. The baby was stirring awake as she strained to open her eyes. Applejack looked at her daughter as she continued struggling to get her eyes open, beginning to fuss slightly. "Shh," she soothed, "It's alright, take yerr time little one." The words soother the little baby as she calmed slightly. Than, ever so slightly, she began to open her eyes for the first time. Applejack watched as she looked at her daughter flutter her eyes open for the first time. Her eyes were big and dazzling, with the most beautiful blue gaze she'd ever lay eyes on. Applejack felt a slew of emotions overcome her as she starred down at her baby. The baby gazed up at her, looking with interest. That's when Applejack started to feel the first rays of light begin to hit her fur. The rays of light also bounced off her little baby and Applejack could almost swore that her little one was glowing. Tears welled up as Applejack felt trapped by her newborn daughter's gaze. "Good morning my love." she said softly. The little baby blinked slightly as she continued starring up at her. "It's me, yerr ma." Applejack continued as her tears escaped from her eyes. "You've got beautiful ocean eyes," she said catching a quick breath, "Just like yerr daddy." The baby continued looking as Applejack felt her heart grow with an overwhelming emotion of love. She figured any minute one of her family members would be stirring awake and realizing she was gone. But she didn't care really. Right now all that mattered was her and her daughter......

Back at it again! So Celestial-Rainstorm is hosting her very first contest and of course I had to jump in on that sweet action. I gotta admit: I was really struggling on who and what to draw. I really wanted to dig in with one of the pieces. I really enjoy the whole ApplexAsh arch and even more so when it comes to family life with them. I read in little Juniper's bio she was a premature baby and I was like let me give a whack t how Juniper could have been introduced to the world. Now I had a few ideas and tried drawing Ash and juniper however after a couple of sketches I went with this one! I gotta say, I'm really proud on how all the colors turned out! I'm not sure if I'll have time to draw up another entry but I hope this entry counts (I was already done when I looked back on the rules and it said it had to be a colored fullbody so this may not even count as an entry, I don't know! Approval that it's an entry Cel??)

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this heartwarming piece between a mother and newborn daughter.
