Description Hector bids farewell to his wife Andromache and his son Astyanyx in Homer's Iliad.

The scene is heavy with symbolism.
Hector has removed his helmet so that Astyanyx will stop crying from fear. The helmet is placed between Hector and his wife and son much like the war which has moved between the man and his family.
Hector's hand rests on his sword. Although he is allowed a brief visit with his family he must still defend them. The war rages on and he cannot stay.
Andromache realizes that her husband must return to the war and that she must watch over her son in the meantime. However, she is loathe to let her man go back to battle and rests her hand on his arm in the hope to persuade him to stay.
Hector is covered in dirt and blood from the fighting. Yet he stands before his wife and young boy covered in filth while on a parapet in his clean and quiet city which stands in stark contrast to the noise and horror of war outside.

Pencils.

Nice, if a little inaccurate.

To the Iliad it’s pretty spot on, I’d just recommend you research Bronze Age equipment and clothing. The Achaeans were the historical Mycenaeans and the Trojans were culturally and politically related to the Hittites. Very appealing styles from both cultures if you’ve not seen them.
