Description
Turn and face the strange~ Please FULL VIEW to read the text and see the details.Damnit DuckTales. Actually, I guess I should thank them for inspiring this mess of a comic -- started it over the weekend and have been doing a few panels each day since. I was originally just gonna have the first two there at the top but my imagination really ran wild, haha. In the description of my previous sketch dump (concerning DT's new "Kit") I said something along the lines of "THIS is what happens when you hang around with fat loser pilots" and as I was writing that I heard it in Karnage's voice... the rest is history. XD
The first five panels are pretty big drawings and I'm not sure why I decided to go with full body poses when they're more difficult for me. But hey, practice is always a good thing. Please note I am not very good at writing dialogue but hopefully they're in character enough. Also, behold my amazing stick figures starring as the DT writers/designers! Aren't they beautiful? I'm so talented. Please read "Excellent" on panel 6 in a Mr. Burns voice. Please.
Y'know, Karnage has a point. I mean, I hate what they did to him in DT but I'd say he made out better than poor Kit. The more I look at that the more I loathe it. By the way, the bit about the Iron Vulture name change and Kit being in love with Molly are are just jokes -- jokes that I certainly hope never become reality.
UPDATE: I added one more panel to this comic to clarify something. My intention with the ending was to have the new designs for these characters be blown up, not the writers themselves and I'm sorry if it came across as too violent. As much as I hate how both Don Karnage and Kit look in DT I certainly don't wish ill on anyone. I felt really bad about this coming across the wrong way. I'm just venting through my art. Anyways! I also changed up a few lines because frankly, I'd rather avoid arguments with fans of the reboot. I've only watched a few episodes and if the show had never started adding in TS characters I probably wouldn't have much of an opinion of it. If you enjoy it, good. But I'm also allowed to be unhappy with it.

I love this comic, and it pretty much represents exactly how I feel about DT's reinvention of these characters. I've said before, it's easier to digest if when you consider it's an alternate universe having nothing to do with the real TS, but their design of Kit just kills me. I'm judging a book by its cover at this point, but I can't foresee any circumstance in whatever episode that makes up for the atrocity of his design.
Last year, I was really excited to see Karnage's return to TV, but at least with him you had to actually watch the episode to find out what a disappointment it was. Kit is appalling at first glance. Bears come in all shapes and sizes in TS's universe, but they had to take a character who's supposed to be agile and athletic and turned him into a re-skin of Baloo, who was by his own definition: a fat stupid old bear. Fuck. Bringing back Kit could've been a shining moment.
As you said, I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade who's happy about this. But I'm going to bitch about it to anyone who'll listen until it's out of my system.

"Bears come in all shapes and sizes in TS's universe," <-- Yes, thank you! I've seen people trying to justify this new model by saying "Well, Kit is a bear so he'd naturally be big as an adult." Last I checked not every bear in TS is the same size and shape as Baloo. Plus that's not just big, it's... well, fat. Frankly I don't think very much thought was put into giving Kit his own unique grown-up design, rather they just wanted him to be the new Baloo for whatever reason. But I've rambled about that before.
With Karnage I was skeptical but slightly hopeful at first -- until I heard about the voice change. When they already had Jim Cummings back for Darkwing it was a complete shock that they wouldn't have him reprise this role too. That aside, I wasn't very fond of the new design (couldn't even give him a tail?) but watching the episode once was more than enough to confirm my fears.
I guess they win in the end since I'll be tuning in for any future eps involving TS characters if only to satisfy my curiosity. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised... but I'm not holding my breath. Also, thank you -- I'm glad you enjoyed this messy comic. Despite my venting it was just plain fun to draw.

Anyone who argues that Baloo's oafish size is somehow the natural default for a TS bear character should take a look at Rebecca. Their sizes reflect who they are, not what animal they are. Baloo is a lazy slob and he looks like a lazy slob. Becky is neat. Rick Sky is disciplined and trim. Kit is small and guile. Molly is... an unfortunate burden to her mother, but I digress.

Heehee! I like this! Don't feel bad, I've had way darker thoughts about Disney and the artists lately. Basically, take your last frame and add me firing multiple missiles from Airwolf into the artists and Disney to get a taste of my thoughts. Yeah, nasty... Been seeing red too often with Disney....

Haha, ohjeez... okay I don't feel quite as mean now. XD Frankly I can't understand why this show is so popular but I guess it's just a matter of taste. Maybe it's the animation, maybe it's the humor style of modern cartoons, maybe it's just the fact that I can't take it seriously and there's too much that makes me cringe. At least concerning the TaleSpin characters, anyway. I was honestly never that into DuckTales as a kid so had they not started adding in characters from other shows I might never have watched and they would've have avoided my wrath. For this anyway. I'm angry about plenty of other things too.

Maybe you were too mean with your criticism but I guess you had a reason, exactly two ones as well. I think fat Kit who looks like Baloo's recolor probably will make more controversies than Karnage's new voice.
I'm wondering what's actually wrong with the fact Don Karnage is obssesed with getting revenge on Dewey Duck. It seems to be logic after how Air Pirates captain has been defeated by Donald's nephew in the previous season. From the other hand if getting revenge on some kid is currently the most important thing in Don Karnage's whole life and the only thing what makes him any sense to live, well, he's already went mad. We could say "He's an antagonist after all" but being obssed with getting revenge on someone who's a kid? Maybe this is the problem? :-/

Judging from what's shown in the trailer that seems to be the case. The plot appears to involve having a bunch of the villains team up and Karnage joins them with the promise of being able to "destroy Dewey Duck". You'd think he'd have more important things to plunder -- and there's no sign of the rest of the pirates? But I really can't take this version of the character seriously and I fear Kit will be far worse. DuckTales (the original) was never a show I watched very often growing up so I didn't have much of an opinion about the reboot... until they started bringing in TS characters. Having seen several episodes now I can honestly say it's just not my cup of tea but I have nothing against anyone who enjoys it. In a way do feel a bit bad for being a harsh critic but I also feel stupidly protective of certain characters and how they're portrayed. At any rate this comic was just damn fun to draw. XD

I guess if all those villains are about to attack Scrooge and Donald's nephews are always with him, possibility of "destroying Dewey Duck" for Don Karnage shouldn't be a problem for them. Anyway seems like he'll never forget and forgive what Dewey's done to him. As I said, he's a villain after all.
If about comic, I'm impressed because of the whole idea. It's like Disney and DT reboot just asked for it.
