Description Jacobi appeared in one of my dreams, thought I would sketch out what he looked like. I'm pleased with the results.

How long did that take? Because you must've been very patient when drawing this.

I think I spent about a day on this one. I need to start learning backgrounds though.

That's fine. At least you had to draw from a photo, so all the lighting, shading and other details were already set.

Oh, I didn’t draw this one from a photo, I see this one from my imagination. I used to do drawings from a live model, so that’s how I learned how to shade. I do have a view places I wish I would’ve gone a bit further with but I only just started seriously drawing again recently.

Oh, a live model? I miss using live models from college. It's hard to make consistent (or good in general) lighting, shading or poses in general when using Photoshop. The way my drawing style is, it feels too simple with thick black outlines and mostly flat colours.

I know what you mean, I find digital a lot harder than traditional because I can spend time making all the mistakes nearly perfect and I can’t blend as well as I could traditionally, guess it’s just learning the tools.

There are pleanty of references online though for lighting. Black and white kind of photos are usually the best when you want to concentrate on shadows.

Yeah, I can imagine because there's not as much of a large pallet to work with.

Oh! And drawing wrinkles in clothing is the worst, even in manga, because I imagine artists deliberately trying to be as realistic as possible, even for still images.

Even just trying to work in grayscale is hard for me when it comes to Photoshop. But again, I'm sure it's just practice.

Aye, I actually have a book just on how to draw clothing in Manga.

I have a few myself but I don't know where they are. Might find them today.
