Atarah is the princess of her family of cougars. (Fantasy world where humans aren't a thing and cougars live in family groups much like lions.) Her parents, the king and queen, are killed in front of her by rogue males while she is a young adult and she is forced to flee with her 2 younger siblings. They meet up with and are taken in by a snow leopard community north of their homeland. There Atarah finishes growing, raises her siblings, makes alliances, and dreams of the day that she will lead them into battle to reclaim her homeland, throne, and avenge her parents.
