Description
made for mythology contestThis is Lycathe, an original character based on the greek goddess Hecathe, and on the Fates.
like Hecate, Lycathe is a trinity goddess. She is an entity formed by three women. they have a separate identity, but when together, they form Lycathe. Each girl choose a name including a syllable of the name Lycathe. Here you can see from left to right: Lybell, Camadi and Themyste.
Like the Fates (and the norse Norns), Lycathe is a very powerful magician. She can read in the past, the present, and the future. Her motivations are quite obscure. She helps people only when she decides it's good for the world.
I decided to experiment a new technic for this drawing. I colored it with markers. I wanted it to look like a medieval miniature.
the scanner, as always, was a bastard. I'm not satisfied by the background, but I did my best to correct it (thanks for =TrollDuNord for the help

i thought the background was intentional! the marker in the background gives the piece a nice texture that breaks up the smooth forground

Thanks I'm glad you say that because I was quite unhappy to see how the background had turned

if your stuck on how to make things in the background stand out without the use of black lines try putting the complimentary color in the shadow parts of the objects. (i.e. a red object has a slight touch of green in the shadow or a blue object has a touch of orange)

Very cool design work. I'd like to see a version of this done with some iridescent paint to capture the light of the moon and the trees/bark its highlighting. Oooh, shiny!

Ooh I like it! It actually reminds me a lot of this gorgeous wall hanging I saw once with the Tree of Life on it.

Welcome.
Not a wall, per se. More like a big curtain you hang on the wall, like a tapestry. It was really pretty. It was green with all sorts of celtic symbols and stuff on it.
