Description I feel like these kinds of things should be redone every so often. This time I waited about 5 years to really dig back in on this and expand a little on my influences. Along with explain them a bit more coherently. IDK- I just felt like redoing this would be fun.

www.deviantart.com/fox-orian/a… Here is the blank version!

Starting from the top left and working my way right-

Nana- A lot of slice of life story elements along with my fascination with rock had to come from here. I love this manga dearly, even if I haven't been following it as close as I should have been.

Sly Cooper- I like to think a lot of my basic story telling and some the more cartoony elements of my art style stemmed from this game series.

Courtney Crumin - A odd little series about a little girl learning she's a witch and using it like an actual child would. I joke my occasional claw hand comes from this series. As is the tendency to forgo noses.

Edward Hopper - I definitely feel like my painting style takes some heavy influence from Hopper. The thickness of the paint and color choices especially.

Stephanie Plum series - This is kind of cheating I guess? But eh. A lot of my sense of humor developed with these books. Which are pretty much >woman loses job > woman becomes bounty hunter > is terrible at it but does it anyway >weird bullshit happens around her (giraffes running around in Trenton, stoners houses burning down and getting everyone high, etc)

Sailor Moon (Shojou manga) - Lets just say as a babby!Sora I read a lot of the Sailor Moon manga and poured myself into watching the anime. The same can be said for all my other shojou manga. Tokyo Mew Mew in particular was a thing. A lot of Sailor Moon reflects in my art style still. It further made any woman I drew as a kid even ganglier than ever.

Usagi Yojimbo - The ensemble cast and historical setting really had a heavy influence on my writing/drawing for a couple years in 2003-2008. Still do to this day.

Digimon - I grew up on the intensely cheesey dub for Digimon Adventure. I copied the style really heavily. This helped me love bad puns.

Archie Comics - I read these damn comics so much as a kid. I feel like my weird shipping tendencies started here. Along with my interest in drawing women.

Daria - I watched a decent amount of The Noggin- which was a channel full of old MTV stuff and Diegrassi. Middle school me was enraptured with Daria. Even if the show was sooo heavily censored.

Nightmare Before Christmas - Here started all of my bloody whimsy in designs and love of Halloween. I still adore this movie to this day.

Lisa Frank - I feel like I'd be remiss if I didn't have this on here. My color choices were... pretty heavily influenced by Lisa Frank. Along with my tendency for a long while to draw animals in rainbow get ups.

Darkwing Duck - Also a show that made me really enjoy puns. As well as appreciate superheros a little more. Possibly a start to my affection for father & daughter family relationships. Goslin and Drake were just- adorable.

Junk Mizuno - A more recent person who inspired my style. I love creepy cute, and this is a solid combo of both. Reading her fairytale stories was my big introduction to the idea something could be adorable and still creep you out.

W.I.T.C.H - I love this series. I loved it so much i emulated it as hard as I could for a long time as a kid. The writing about girls being heros tied into my Shojou love, along with the art style being so surprising. I still have the first issue I bought from scholastic magazine.

Disney's Hercules - This was a movie I watched on repeat as a kid. If there was anything I loved, it was seeing this really earnest guy and sarcastic lady fall in love. The stylization also just blew me away.

Scott Campbell (Psychonauts) - Even if I discovered the game in 2007-2008, I still just really pulled a ton of inspiration from it. By that point I was really falling out of my anime phase entirely. So something this uniquely different and colorful was such a relief.

Crash Bandicoot - The vibe this game gave off has always kind of stuck with me. A carefree, summery feeling. Crash Bandicoot was one of the first games my brother and I ever played.

TMNT - Lets just say in 2003, TMNT completely blew my mind away. I shifted gears so hard from anime to this. I'm pretty sure a lot of my character writing can be blamed on this show. All the characters were so distinct and fun.

Tim Schafer & Doublefine: Technically cheating since this is a bit much, but I feel like I can't overstate the effect Doublefine has had on me. Hell Tim's writing has really left a mark on me. It's hard to explain, but it took my already rather silly off the wall humor and made it so much sillier. Thanks, Tim.
