What a difference 5 years make.

My 2007 Christmas card was never one I wanted to put in my DA gallery (for comparison I have put it in my scrapbook though [link] ). I liked (still like) the concept of the card (which was printed on both sides of the paper) but the execution just wasn't to my liking. I was a little rushed at the time and I couldn't get what was in my head on paper.
I always thought about redoing the card and while I was thinking about a concept for this year's card I suddenly felt that now was the time. It might bring me in the mood and inspire me for the holidays of 2012.

I started from scratch basically. I reused the background of Starry Starry Night [link] and another blotchy painted scan which I turned into a vague idea of a tree in a room rather then an actual blurry silhouette (and copying the stars from the other background).
I redrew the Baby with bear, used different colours, remade the "window" and I'm much much happier with it all. Obviously the drawing is better because after the 2009 calender I've gotten quite the hang of this character, but most of all it's the backgrounds that have improved 100%. This was the card I wanted to send 5 years ago. And it may seem a little silly to put this much effort into a card that I won't actually be using, but there you have it.
