Description
When she's not navigating her way through college life, Mel Hernandez works to solve the murder of Dr. Forester, the man whose experimental treatment saved her life and granted her awesome abilities. Not only was she gifted superhuman strength and durability, but fast-growing, nearly-uncuttable hair, that seems to move of its own accord. As El Azote ("The Whip"), Mel fights her way to the center of a huge conspiracy: who wanted Dr. Forester dead, and what happened to his decades of research?

An original character I've had bouncing around in the ol' noggin for awhile, but whom I haven't been able to give a proper story until now. I want to eventually give her a comic or some other sort of graphic story, but for now you'll just have to be satisfied with this I tried a new workflow for this piece, and devoted a lot more time to it than I usually do, and I think it turned out pretty well! I'm really satisfied with the shading. I'm a little annoyed I couldn't get the shininess or texture on the hair the way I wanted, but it was enough of a hassle just to make the lighting on it make sense, so whatever. Let me know what you think!
