The spots kinda make them look toy-like, IMO. :3 that might help explain the added cuteness (and it's a rather convenient way to add lighting...*lazy* XP)
That heart is actually a brush. I downloaded it somewhere (here on DA, I'm pretty sure)...but I don't remember who made it. normally GIMP specifies who made the brush, but it's not doing it with this one :/

not sure if I saw your version of this ...lol practing and refining shading/lighting techniques is what I like do with lineart. (especially if I didn't draw the lines xD)

tbh I didn't spend much time with this either too much other stuff going on and all
