this is for s 3FA...this week's topic was to "find something in a starry night sky to inspire your fashion design creativity. Find astonomical influences from stars, moons, weather conditions, aurora borealis, etc. from the night sky"
i looked up pictures online, and found a bunch of images of supernovas and a pretty picture of Saturn, which i used in the background.
the supernova inspired the shape of the dress, as well as the color scheme. Since a supernova is an explosion of a star, i wanted to make the dress "explode" or at least seem to from the empire waist. the navy is supposed to be the sky, the belt is inspired by saturn. the layers underneath the main dress are made from tulle to make the skirt appear fuller, and the colors were taken from the majority of colors in the supernovas i found.
EDIT: i decided to add some random sequins on the bottom...i think it looks better. more like stars
it was also fun to make the background, i like doing stars and night scenes... I also tried a new coloring style for the skin. let me know if you like it!!

hahaha i know. i was a total solar system nerd when i was younger ..still am, actually. if there's a show on about comets or stars on the Science channel or Discovery channel, i'm totally there. XD

i think this is very suitable for the challenge! i think it's very "planetary"! i was gonna do something the same, where you combine all the stuff together...but im really bad at collaborating, intertwining everything together...you did it so perfectly...the supernovas...the sky...SATURN...i only had a huge rock...HAHAHA!

thanks for the comment...i did add a little something to it (the dress didn't originally have any of the siver sparkles on the navy layer)...i'm not really one to go all out and overembellish things...i don't even really do prints (i tried once, and not sure how that turned out) ^^ also, i just don't like the look of a necklace with a strapless dress, it's a personal preference of mine. less it more. thanks for the suggestions though!!

It really does seem to explode! gosh, I really love all the work you put into this! the coloring looks great; the simple coloring of the skin really makes the garment stand out better!! fabulous!

i was thinking about putting a layer of silver sparkles on it, but decided against it at the last minute...
