mmm....i'm just starting to make apophysis fractals from zero...so i don't have a structured workflow for making them...
but this one was done using 3 triangles..
one of them with "1" value for linear
other with "0 to 1" value for sinusoidal
and the third one did the trick ...it have BEND variation..
and you can enchance the effect by modifiying the white triangle and giving it some bend variation as well ...
the rest was randomly moving and scaling the triangles

yes...the "white triangle" ...i dont remember how its called, but is the one with the FX icon 
and yes...no scripts, just randomly moving, scaling, and giving transforms to triangles
