As a gradual spec evo fan myself, The Future is Wild (not referring to the cartoon) had always been a part of my influence, not to mention that it also fascinated by the scenarios where modern-day animals evolve into vastly different forms in response to their new habitats. But even as I adore this documentary, it does have some missteps here and then.

Given that this documentary aired 20 years ago, most concepts didn’t necessarily age well (e.g, carakillers developing wing-claws, rattlebacks being fireproof, and the controversial spinks). There are also some wasted potential that could’ve been interesting, like what if these creatures from a previous time period have evolved/diverged into new forms to correspond to a new time period? What would the other continents look like out of the 4 habitats shown in each episode? What other animals does this future world have aside from showing only 3/4 species in the show?

These questions and faults shown above are why this project of mine is being created. I intended this project to rectify the issues seen in the documentary, by making the animals more accurate, altering some of the animals’ ancestry, expanding the number of animals and habitats, and so on.

I know it may not turn out to be perfect, but it’s worth a shot at least.
