Oh my god I was going through my old art on my other account and oh, my lord HAHA. I just had to do one of these. And this is what happens with four years of improvement.
Makes me wonder what'll happen in another four years =w=
hmm...
It's been a looooong time since I drew this character. She use to be the main bad guy of whatever the heck I was doing.
hmm.

After picking the picture I wanted to redo I opened up the old pic and the "do it again thing" in my art program (mspaint, photoshop or SAI) and copy-pasted my old art onto the "do it again" template .

This is Mirage. She was an old antagonist character I had a few years back. I think she was a demon who was partly put together by scrap metal and other things. She was kind of an angsty character. XD

I think I could improve this much if I could figure out dem new fangled compooter whosy whatzits... But I go into photoshop or corel painter tool (programs that came with my tablet) and im just like, "... ... uuuhh.... Where the hell it the pencil tool?!" *finds it in corel* "Oh, there it is... NOW HOW THE HELL DO I MAKE IT STOP LOOKING LIKE REAL PENCIL MARKS?!" XD

Ha! Oh my god, that was me when first testing out Paintool SAI.
I had to look up a lot of tutorials to figure out what does what and what setting affects what part of the brush and ughhh. I kept having to call my younger brother in here to help me XD I felt like an old lady who was behind on current technology.

I use pencils for drawing, a felt tip pen for inking (I lurr my Le Pen), and a scanner and GIMP for coloring XD That has made such glorious pieces as this! XD
damn its been a long time since I've computer colored anything...

I use the pen tool most of the time on sai. I like my tablet now because the tip of the strokes can be modified so the lines look cleaner, but even now I still have such trouble with lineart.

I love the way art like yours looks. that's honestly the kind of art I want to do. But due to a combination of my skill level, minor OCD, and the stuff I draw, I tend to prefer to stick to solid black lines of all one size and cell shading. So when I go in gimp I deactivate the thing that makes the opacity lower if you press softer XD

Yeah, I think I see what you mean.
As, for me If I paint something with just solid colors I keep looking at weirdly like I bet that would look so good with some shading there. just a little bit. and then I end up taking too much time on it.And than someimes it doesn't look good with shading and I get frustrated and give up.
but uuuugh, i'm rambling.
Also if it doesn't look balanced, I feel that way too.
