The background reminds me slightly of Bachalo's variant cover for House Of M,[link] , which is in no way a bad thing in my books! Bachalo's the man
I like when artists do that; homages and references to other works they like is fun, makes you feel more connected as readers/fans can think "Hey! I like that too! That's pretty cool that that guy likes it as well."

No, it wasn't coincidental at all!
For that piece I worked on three background choices and this is that one that my friend colorist and I chose because it worked the better with the my main character Sharp! From that point, I redraw with my characters and twisted the composition, so it became really my own and not a Bachalo clone piece!

Cool, I can see what you're saying now
It's more of a homage to him than a clone of him, which is cool, and fine in my books
Like I said, I love references to other work in comics I read, makes it all feel connected, like a little comic community and in-jokes
I have this vision in my head of Marvel being a friendly place to work in, due to everyone working together to complete the stories
So is the book out and for sale? I'd love to pick it up some time
