Description So here we have a cermonial sickle with a goat theme (I don't know what I was thinking), a hand axe which I've already put up a 3d model for, and also a quick 1.5hr knight helmet I did last night, which I should be modelling in the next few days, it all doesn't go pear-shaped.
Sorry I haven't uploaded recently, been working on other art jobs at the moment, and most of the stuff I've done has turned out half finished. Check out my tumblr if you want to keep up to date on the scrappier things! www.spikings.tumblr.com

Hehe, thank you! The wood one took forever to get right, was fun though.

How many layers just for the wood ?

Two - about 99% of it is drawn on one layer, I just keep going over it like you would with paint on canvas until its right, then the second layer adds some subtle dark tones near the ends.

That's hard ._.
I usually use one layer for each color... ><

Oof! That has it's upsides, but after a while it just gets confusing to edit, especially when you reach over a dozen layers. I would say every so often duplicate all your layers, then merge the new copies, put the old ones into a group for safe keeping and paint on top of your new version. It keeps things simple when painting, and stops you from worrying about painting something thr wrong way.
