Description
This is a dragon species I came up with a little over a year ago- I've done a lot of small sketches and such of them to try and get a feel for how their full body looks drawn out. I can see it clearly in my head, but I've always had issues getting it out in the world.
Wound up drawing this in my folder in art class for a grade- got an A+ ^^ (The white rectangle in the corner had my full name, so I got rid of it)

Anyways- Latch jaws are swamp dragons. They don't breathe fire, but spit a slime on their prey witch hardens into a shell quickly, rendering them immobile. Only a Latch Jaw's teeth can break the shell with force- but I've decided that bleach can dissolve it. They can fly, but are primarily aquatic- an anphibias breed that cannot survive without water for more than a few days. The spines on its back are mobile- it raises and lowers them at will, and uses them to portray emotions. Algae and other plants get caught in the spines to make it look like part of the swamp- it eats these plants to give its slime spray a disturbing green color.
Sports only 3 toes on each foot, and the front feet are webbed- long, wide feet help it walk on muddy banks without sinking. Front feet are webbed, back feet resemble that of a frog. It uses its long body to swim, rather than using its legs.

The four teeth visible on its mouth are the ONLY teeth it has. It uses these teeth to tear off chunks of its preys flesh, and swallows them hole. They prefer warm blooded prey, and will not eat anphibias/reptilian creatures. They are not very territorial, and share their swamps with crockodiles and whatnot. They raise their young- and BOTH parents take part.
Come Winter they hibernate- so during the fall they get unusually agressive over the need to eat enough to help them survive the cold season. They breed at the start of fall and lay there eggs shortly after waking up in the spring...
