Lesson One: Getting Started with Drawing

Supplies Needed

-Pencil

-Paper

-Eraser

Congratulations! You’ve recently (or maybe not so recently) decided to take up drawing! First thing’s first, get some supplies!

Once you’ve gotten your supplies in order it’s time to get started. Don’t start off with a tablet. If you can’t at least doodle traditionally, you got no business trying to draw digitally. Get a comfy spot with a flat, stable surface for drawing. Then you draw!

But how do I know what to draw, or how to draw it?

That’s easy! What do you want to draw? What don’t you want to draw? Figure that out. Don’t limit it by how hard you think it is. Limit it by how long this is going to take. For this first drawing you only want it to take about half an hour (30 minutes).

Ok, now with your future drawing in mind we are gonna continue this lesson. I’m not going to explain exactly how to draw in this particular lesson. You can either go look up how to, or do it as best as you can. We’re gonna address how to draw in the next lesson!

If it doesn’t come out super awesome it’s ok. This is just to get you pumped up and ready to draw for real!

Assignment- Draw either an animal, a human, or a fantasy beast. Then give them a silly name and background!
